Peterborough Regional Science Fair

Peterborough Regional Science Fair The Peterborough Science Fair is a competition in which students display their results for an original scientific investigation that they have carried out.

The 2023 PRSF will take place IN PERSON April 11th, 2023. Our divisions are as follows:
Primary K- Grade 3
Elementary Grades 4-6
Junior Grades 7-8
Intermediate Grades 9-10
Senior Grades 11-12
Elementary to Senior divisions are divided by type of science.

CWSF Final Days RECAP! 🧬🔬

As Team Peterborough came to the final days of CWSF, we had some amazing moments!

We had two awesome days of public viewing and exploring the STEM Expo put on by .sjc !

After public viewing was finished, we danced the night away at the CWSF Send Off Celebration and Dance! Between making keychains, getting dirty sodas, and lighting up the dance floor, Team Peterborough had a rocking good last night!🕺🕺

It all had to come to an end though, and Team Peterborough caught our bus to the airport to head back home to Ontario! There were many teary goodbyes and some awesome food had along the way! 🛫😋

Thanks so much for such an amazing week .sjc ! Same time next year?👀

CWSF Awards RECAP! 🏆🧬🤩

Team Peterborough brought home some serious hardware from the CWSF awards ceremony!

Claire is bringing home a bronze medal, Isaiah landed a bronze medal and special award (Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Fusion Award), and Ella secured a silver medal and special award (Egis Resilient Communities Award)! 💃💃

Congratulations to all the finalists! Team Peterborough we are SO PROUD of you all!!✨🤩

CWSF Tour Day RECAP!

Team Peterborough had an awesome day out and about in Edmonton!

The first stop on our tour day was TELUS World of Science where we learned about heart beats, Earth’s magnetic forces, and ice coring!❤️🧲🧊

Did you know that the University of Alberta has a vast collection of ice cores that have been collected from all over Canada??🥶❄️

Next up we ventured into Fort Edmonton Park where we rode the ferris wheel, explored the fort, and rode the steam engine around the park!

To end the day off, we hit up the West Edmonton Mall to explore all the amazing stores! We had a blast checking out every part of the mall and definitely spent more than necessary🤪

CWSF Days 3&4 RECAP!

After two long days of judging, the hard part of CWSF for Team Peterborough is finally over!🎉

Team Peterborough had a swath of judges come by their project to hear all about the amazing projects they are displaying this year at CWSF! Great job to the team!!!

After judging was complete, all delegates stood outside for the annual clap out! We are so proud of everyone and their accomplishments! 👏👏

To celebrate judging being finished, we went out to get a well-deserved Froster with some friends from !

Finally, we went to the CWSF Has Talent Show! 💃🎤Team Peterborough was super impressed by all of the amazing talent displays! Well done to all performers!

Now onto even more fun stuff in the coming days!☀️

CWSF 2026 RECAP!

Days 1 & 2

Team Petervorough’s first few days at the Canada Wide Science Fair are in the books! ✈️

From traveling from Toronto to Edmonton, to setting up projects, trading pins (a CWSF tradition!), making new friends from across the country, celebrating at Opening Ceremonies, and enjoying a wonderful Welcome BBQ, this week is off to an amazing start! 🇨🇦

Back-to-back finalists!! 🥳🥳 Congratulations to our finalists heading off to show their science fair flare at the 2026 Canada Wide Science Fair!! 🤗🤩🎉

🥉Ella Sehn came first in Senior Earth and Environmental Science, THIRD overall in the fair, with her project “Removal of Aquatic Microbial Biocontaminants with Ozonide: An Assessment of Apoptosis in Wildtype and CRISPR-Cas9 iPT Homozygous Knockout Cell Lines”

🥈Isaiah Jalsevac came first in Senior Computer and Engineering Sciences, SECOND overall in the fair, with his project “Firebird: Autonomous UAV Detection and Monitoring of Wildfires”

🥇Claire Sehn won first in Intermediate Earth and Environmental Sciences, FIRST overall in the fair, with her project “A Novel, Biodegradable Treatment to Limit Drought and Wildfire Disaster and Retain Soil Nutrients”

We wish all three the best of luck at they go on to the CWSF!!
