Each Tuesday we share a reminder to pray for one another:

Please pray for communities affected by hazardous smoke from the widespread peatland fires on the islands of Kalimantan and Sumatra, making breathing difficult. Some GKMI (Gereja Kristen Muria Indonesia) churches are located in areas affected by the haze.

Please also pray for the areas impacted by the volcanic ash from the recent eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. There is increased air pollution in Jakarta and West Java from the ash cloud.

In both disasters, please pray for the health and safety of people in impacted communities, wisdom and resilience for emergency workers, and for the authorities to enforce policies that ensure proper mitigation of disasters and protection of Indonesia’s peatland.

“I think our greatest challenge now is figuring out what peace looks like amongst each other. How can we stay authentic to our differences but still grounded in the same faith where we believe that Christ invites us to reconciliation. And what does look like for Anabaptism. It is challenging, but it does excite me because our greatest role model is Jesus, who knew where he stood on things but was unafraid to go into the world. Jesus revealed himself just as he was into the world.” — Hyacinth Stevens Jesus

“It is moving to see the varied ways that churches around the world celebrated Creation Sunday this year. I hope that it can become a treasured tradition that sparks a deeper love for God the Creator and God’s living craftsmanship all around us,” says Jennifer Halteman Schrock, North America representative on the Creation Care Working Group.

“Sometimes ministry is difficult. Sometimes unity takes time. Sometimes the burdens feel heavy.

But when we stand together as the family of Christ: praying, supporting and encouraging one another, we begin to see God’s faithfulness.” —Blessing Joy Turqueza

“More than ever, now is a time for costly solidarity…. It is a faith-based stance, a human commitment and a moral responsibility. True solidarity is also the embodiment of our shared humanity and fraternity. Either we live together – or we perish together.”—Kairos Palestine 2
