Lately...at Our Farm

There’s been a lot growing at Our Farm this summer, and we don’t just mean the vegetables. 🌱🥕💛

From strangely shaped carrots and new infrastructure, to storm repairs, community partnerships and some very generous donations, it’s been a busy season...and it's not over yet!

We’ve welcomed amazing volunteer groups from Equitable, OTIP, definity and others, helped out our friends at Fertile Ground Farm, shared our vegetable trimmings with the Humane Society, and received some incredible support from people and businesses in our community.

From getting out in the community and trying new activities to building skills, working together and giving back, YEP Summer was all about creating opportunities for young people to connect, contribute and make the most of their summer.

For Anthony, a recent graduate and new employee at Thrift on Kent, employment is about possibility. With the support of a job coach at KW Habilitation, he's building valuable skills, growing his confidence, and taking meaningful steps toward his goals. Employment creates opportunities for independence, connection, and purpose. It empowers people to contribute their unique talents, develop new strengths, and build the future they envision for themselves.

Thinking about working, but not sure where to start? LEG Up! to Work is about building the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to take your next step toward employment.

Over eight weeks, you’ll learn about what to expect in the workplace, work one-to-one on your resume, practice interviews with local businesses and put your skills into action through hands-on evaluations in our community.

The course is for adults 18+ who experience a barrier to employment, whether you’re thinking about your first job, returning to work or figuring out what kind of work might be right for you. And it doesn’t end when the classroom portion is finished. We’ll meet with you to talk about your next steps toward your employment goals, which could include continued skill building, volunteering or support with job development.

Join us on November 5 at the Embassy Room at Bingemans for one of KW Habilitation’s most anticipated fundraising events of the year.

This year, guests can look forward to three curated Scotch tastings, a signature Scotch welcome cocktail, a seated dinner with delicious pairings, and an evening guided by Scotch expert Matt Howell.
