So grateful for our community 🫶

👜💕 PURSES & BACKPACKS FOR WOMEN IN NEED — YEAR 9! 💕👜
Hello everyone! It’s that time of year again, and I’m beginning my 9th year of collecting gently used purses and backpacks for women in need in our community. ❤️
These purses mean SO much. Many of the women who receive them have very little, and something as simple as a purse filled with necessities, comfort items and a little kindness can make a woman feel cared for and remembered.
If you would like to help, you can donate a gently used purse or backpack and fill it with items such as mitts or gloves, a scarf, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, brush or comb, wipes, lotion, makeup, perfume, lip balm, candy, sunglasses, hand warmers, a travel mug or a small gift card for a coffee shop or restaurant. Even adding a warm, handwritten note reminding her that she matters can make the gift extra special. 💗
If shopping isn’t convenient, you can also make a cash donation, and I will happily purchase items on behalf of you or your business.
✨ I’ll be collecting until December 10th.
This year, the purses and backpacks will be distributed to women in need through The Tree and CMHA.
I would SO appreciate your help in helping another woman feel a little more loved and supported this holiday season. Every purse, every item and every donation makes a difference.

The Tree will be closed today in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today is a time to pause, reflect, and honour Survivors, their families, and the children who never came home.

We encourage our community to spend time listening, learning, and reflecting on the history and lasting impacts of residential schools, and on the role each of us can play in reconciliation.

Reconciliation is ongoing. It lives in the choices we make to learn, to listen, and to move forward with care and respect.

We will reopen tomorrow during our regular hours.

We’re collecting brand new back-to-school supplies to help local families get ready for the school year.

We’re accepting backpacks, notebooks, pens and pencils, markers and highlighters, school snacks, lunch kits, and other school essentials.

Donations can be dropped off at The Tree Monday to Thursday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. 657 Seymour Street.

Tax donation receipts are available.

Thank you to everyone who helps us make back-to-school a little easier for families in our community.

Such a great program and opportunity for families. I know that our museum here is Kamloops has a great kids area! What a great way to get out and beat the smoke at the same time!

Something new is growing at The Tree. 🌿

We're excited to introduce One Tree, a new group for women who are looking for connection, support, and a place where they can simply be themselves.

Over four weeks, we'll come together to talk about topics like cultural healing, healthy relationships, self care, community, and spending time on the land. Every session is an opportunity to connect, learn, and support one another in a welcoming, judgment-free space.

Whether you're looking to build new friendships, learn something new, or just need a place to feel connected, we'd love to have you join us.
Everyone is welcome. Come as you are.

Some Fridays, the hardest part is simply showing up.

Join us for coffee, conversation, and connection with other mothers who are navigating recovery. This is a welcoming, judgment-free space to share, listen, learn, and build community with women who understand the journey.

Red Dress Day is a day of awareness and mourning for the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2Spirit people in Canada. Their lives mattered. Their stories matter. Their families matter.

We honour them today and every day.

We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received from BC Interior Community Foundation. These funds allow us to continue to provide the important resources we do for the women in our community 🫶

Sometimes, support arrives exactly when it’s needed most.

Thanks to the Stollery Charitable Foundation Fund, we were honoured to award a $10,750 grant to The Family Resource Centre (The Tree).

Recently, The Tree has been navigating an incredibly difficult time. Executive Director Susan Wright experienced the unimaginable loss of her son in a car accident. In moments like these, even the strongest leaders need space to grieve, and organizations need support to carry forward their vital work.

This grant will provide emergency staffing support, ensuring that families continue to receive care, while allowing Susan the time she needs.

Because this is what community philanthropy does. It shows up when it matters most.
