Clements Centre offices and The Mindful Mouthful will be closed on Monday, October 12th, for Thanksgiving. We will reopen on Tuesday, October 13th, at regular hours.

Support inclusive programs through our upcoming bottle drive.

Our LOCAL program will be holding a bottle drive on Friday, October 16th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Community members are invited to drop off refundable containers during this time.

If you are unable to attend in person, please call 250.746.4135 ext. 243 to arrange for pickup prior to Friday the 16th.

This week is "Make a Will Week" in British Columbia, a great time to consider how you will care for your loved ones and carry your values into the future. Almost 10% of Canadians do this by including a charitable gift in their will.

Adding gift in your will to Clements Centre will help the next generation and build a better future for the entire Cowichan Region. It can help ensure the programs and services people rely on today continue to advance and be here for those who need them.

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month, and we are starting it with a thank you.

On September 14th, Clements Centre hosted the Cowichan Region Employment Works Conference, bringing 83 job developers and employment service providers from across Vancouver Island together for a full day of learning and connection. Sessions covered self-employment, job development, trauma-informed practice, and culturally safe Indigenous employment services.

Thank you to Community Living British Columbia for funding the event, to our partners Community Roots Support Services and Nanaimo Association for Community Living, and to every speaker, volunteer, and attendee who made the day a success.

September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a time to remember the children who never returned home and to honour Survivors and their families.

Reconciliation is rooted in the courage to listen, the humility to acknowledge past and ongoing harms, and an unwavering commitment to upholding the truth while confronting denialism in all its forms. At Clements Centre, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples today and every day, and we remain committed to the essential, ongoing work of truth-telling and meaningful reconciliation.

Missed the recent all-candidates meetings for Duncan and North Cowichan? You can still watch them.

Clements Centre, Providence Farm, Cowichan Valley Basket Society, and Volunteer Cowichan came together to host two evenings with the people running for local office in Duncan and North Cowichan. Candidates answered questions about the issues that matter to the people our four organizations serve, including accessibility, inclusion, food security, and community support.
