What a whirlwind it's been this week! The NMA was proud to take part in two important events introducing our youth to the trades and careers in manufacturing.

First it was the Tools in the Trade Bootcamp hosted by Support Ontario Youth at Venture13. Over 40 individuals joined us at the centre for a full day of learning the trades of carpentry & electrical.

Then we headed over the Cobourg Community Centre for two days welcoming over 2400 local youth from grade 7-12 at the annual LevelUP Career Fair. We were very proud to welcome youth to try our Vfactory simulations - learning what it's like to work in manufacturing and the industrial trades.

Once everything was done and settled, our team walked away this week inspired and excited for our future workforce. We cannot wait until next time!

Did you hear? The NMA is hosting a Master Class in Risk, Resilience & Value with Celeran EG on Sept 22nd - virtually from 10am-11:30am.

In this Master Class, Guillermo Cardoso Sr. will take participants beyond conventional risk identification to examine three fundamental questions: What can go wrong? How likely is it to happen? And what are the consequences? From there, he will explore vulnerability, resilience and robustness, and the practical options available to management when deciding whether to avoid, reduce, transfer or accept risk.
But managing risk is only part of the equation.

The Master Class will also introduce Big Scale Value Analysis and examine how manufacturers can challenge costs without simply cutting them—by questioning whether materials, components, processes and activities deliver the function and value for which the customer is actually willing to pay. The objective is not lower cost at the expense of quality, reliability or customer value, but identifying unnecessary and recoverable costs while protecting what matters.

Bringing together risk management, business orientation, inventory management, value analysis and logistics, this session will challenge participants to look beyond individual functions and consider how decisions interact across the manufacturing business.
