Arts Council of Northumberland The ACN began in the fall of 2004 as an initiative of the Art Gallery of Northumberland, funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The Arts Council of Northumberland was created to enhance contacts and interaction within the artistic and cultural community in Northumberland County, Ontario, and to promote arts, culture and heritage events throughout the county and the region. In the beginning, the Council was governed by a broad membership consensus in a cooperative, grassroots fashion; but it became apparent to the members w

ho took part regularly in the meetings that a tighter executive structure was needed to carry on. As a result, an interim executive is now taking the initiative to build an effective Arts Council, patterned after similar organizations in neighboring Hastings, Prince Edward and Peterborough counties. The name change from the original Northumberland Coalition For Culture to Arts Council Of Northumberland reflects this new focus.
