This morning, Venture13 welcomed a study group from the Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference / Conférence canadienne sur le leadership (GGCLC), a two-week national program that brings together emerging leaders from business, labour, government, education and the cultural sector.
The Northumberland stop was organized by Cobourg Deputy Mayor Nicole Beatty, with the group hosted at Venture13 as part of its regional learning tour. We were joined by Suzanne McCrimmon from the Town of Cobourg, and Evan Hall from Frontier85.
Nventure’s John Hayden and the Northumberland Manufacturers' Association Darla Price spoke about each organization and how smaller communities innovate, highlighting the story behind Venture13, collaborative projects like the V13 Policetech Accelerator and Vfactory, and national initiatives like DELIA and StrikeUP Canada. This was followed by conversations and connections with leaders from as far afield as Nunavut, the Maritimes, the Prairies and Quebec.
GGCLC study groups travel across Canada to visit communities and organizations selected for their potential as learning sites. We were proud to have the opportunity to speak about the work happening at Venture13, in Northumberland and beyond as part of an important national conversation.
