The socialization window doesn't wait. Neither do we.

Puppies have a critical period for learning to feel safe in the world and it goes by fast. That's why we offer free socialization classes. And this summer, we're doubling down - now twice a week, all summer long.

We're Calgary's puppy experts. We have programs for every stage of development and we don't want any pup to miss the start they deserve. So we're removing the barrier entirely.

No catch. Just our commitment to puppies.

All we ask: register in advance and make sure your pup has their first round of vaccinations. That's it.

We also gratefully accept donations for Parachutes for Pets forpets - monetary or new/gently used pet items. 🐾

Spots fill fast. Set up an account to register at https://bit.ly/4e95qF4

This sweet soul was tied to our door and left behind.

And heartbreakingly, she is not alone.

We are seeing a rising number of pets being abandoned, surrendered, or arriving underweight because families are struggling more than ever before. Rising costs, housing insecurity, transportation barriers, and financial hardship are pushing many people to impossible situations.

That’s exactly why our No Empty Bowls campaign exists.

At Parachutes for Pets, we believe no family should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pet. Through our pet food bank programs and new mobile pet food bank initiatives, we are working to bring support directly into communities, helping remove barriers like transportation and mobility challenges so pet food becomes more accessible to those who need it most.

Because keeping bowls full helps keep families together.

If you would like to see a mobile pet food bank in your community, please email [email protected].

Huge shoutout to Sammy for choosing Parachutes for Pets for his Grade 6 Take Action Project

Sammy created an amazing presentation and fundraiser to help support pets and people in our community, and we are so grateful for all the time, effort, and heart he put into it.

Today, we were so happy to welcome Sammy and his mom to our Advocacy Centre for a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility, where they got to learn more about our programs and meet some of our program dogs! 🐶

Because of compassionate young people like Sammy, we’re able to continue supporting families through our pet food bank, safekeeping program, and community initiatives.

Thank you, Sammy, for making a difference for both pets and people in our community, we’re so proud of you! 💛

Some days, Paws for Mental Health looks like a big classroom or community event.

And some days, it looks like sitting in a garden for two quiet hours with our program dogs, fresh air, and kids who just need a moment to breathe.

Today, Blanche and Goldie spent the afternoon at a youth shelter in Edmonton, soaking up cuddles, playing outside, and simply being present. No big agenda. No pressure. Just connection, comfort, and a safe space to exist exactly as you are.

These visits matter more than we can put into words. For many youth, moments of calm, trust, and unconditional love can be incredibly powerful. The impact extends to staff as well, who spend so much of their time supporting others. Having the opportunity to slow down, connect, and share quiet moments with the dogs can offer comfort and care to them, too.

Programs like this are only possible because of sponsorships and community support. We often wish we could share more photos and videos from visits like these, because seeing the impact helps people understand why this work is so important. But many of the spaces we visit support vulnerable youth and families, which means privacy and safety always come first.

So while we can’t always show you every moment, please know they matter deeply 🐾

Thank you to everyone who helps make these visits possible for youth in our communities.

If you'd like to support Paws for Mental Health:

🐾 Sponsor a youth or senior to attend a class in-centre ($25.00)

🐾 Sponsor a mobile visit where we bring the dogs + activities directly to schools, seniors’ homes, and community spaces ($50.00)

🐾 Donate supplies - we’re always in need of art materials like paint, brushes, paper, cardstock, glitter, scissors & more

🐾 Shop our Amazon wishlist or drop off new/gently used supplies at our Parachutes for Pets Advocacy Centres

Join us for a Paws for Mental Health Mother’s Day event - filled with creativity and connection 💐

Kids will get to create something special for Mom, while moms can craft, relax, and soak up all the love (and dog kisses 🐶).

We know that celebrating days like this isn’t always accessible for everyone, and we believe it should be. This is a no-barrier event, where all are welcome to come as they are. Donations are appreciated (recommended $20), but never required, and no one will be turned away for financial reasons.

Because everyone deserves a space to feel supported, connected, and cared for 🩷🌸

29.3% of Albertans report poor mental health, higher than the national average of 26.1%.

1 in 4 seniors experience loneliness, impacting both mental and physical health.

Indigenous youth face su***de rates 3–6 times higher than non-Indigenous youth in Canada.

And nearly 40% of youth who need mental health support aren’t able to access it.

That’s why Paws for Mental Health exists.
To create spaces that are accessible, welcoming, and rooted in connection, before someone reaches a crisis point.

And today was another one of those days.

Our classes are filled with creativity, connection, and time with our program dogs. These aren’t just art activities, they’re safe spaces where youth and seniors can slow down, express themselves, and feel a sense of belonging.

You can see the impact in real time. Confidence growing, conversations starting, and moments of calm that stick with people long after the class ends.

None of this is possible without our incredible donors.

If you’ve been looking for a way to make a real, tangible difference:

🐾 Sponsor a youth or senior to attend a class in-centre ($25.00)

🐾 Sponsor a mobile visit where we bring the dogs + activities directly to schools, seniors’ homes, and community spaces ($50.00)

🐾 Donate supplies - we’re always in need of art materials like paint, brushes, paper, cardstock, glitter, scissors & more

Every single bit of support helps us reach someone who might not otherwise have access to this kind of care.

A very special thank you to Zach Whitecloud and his incredible fiancée Maddy for helping make this program a reality 💚
