"This summer I had the opportunity to volunteer at Our Chalet as the kitchen specialist! I was in Switzerland for just over 3 months and made countless memories along the way.

Most of my time was spent supporting the catering coordinator and leading daily operations in the kitchen. One of the highlights for me was getting the chance to make Our Chalets 94th birthday cake. I made 2 very large cakes to feed about 100 people!

The other part of my time was spent out on programme with guests from all over the world. I got to do lots of fun things including hiking, zip lining, and a high ropes course. On my days off I was fortunate to have the opportunity to explore Switzerland and the beautiful alps, words and pictures truly don’t do it justice.

I was so thankful to have the opportunity to combine my love of guiding with my love of hospitality and food. I made so many memories and made some lifelong friends with the girls I got to volunteer with. When I was in sparks I told my mum I wanted to travel with Girl Guides one day. I never could have imagined that I’d not only get the chance to travel with my own unit but also get this one of a kind international experience representing Girl Guides of Canada on the world stage."
