Finding stable housing is only part of the journey. Keeping it is just as important. 💛

Our HomeLinks program helps families experiencing housing instability build the tools, confidence, and community connections needed to stay successfully housed and move toward self-sufficiency.

Families connected to HomeLinks can receive:
✨ Housing search and landlord support
✨ Rental subsidies and financial assistance
✨ Parenting guidance and life skills support
✨ Mental health and community referrals
✨ Ongoing case management and goal setting

And most importantly — families can receive up to two years of support while working toward long-term stability.

Last year, 89% of families supported through HomeLinks sustained stable housing.

🏠 Connections to HomeLinks are made through the Calgary Homeless Foundation’s Coordinated Access and Assessment (CAA) system.

A huge thank you to Children's Birthday Miracles for hosting such a special party for the children at our Crisis Nursery 💛✨

The children were treated to McDonald’s meals, freezies, fun games, and adorable treat bags to take home—but one of the biggest highlights was getting to meet a real-life princess! 👑

The smiles, excitement, and laughter throughout the day brought so much joy to the children and created memories they won’t soon forget.

A very special thank you to Sairose and Sheliza for organizing this wonderful event and helping make the day so magical for the kiddos. Your kindness and generosity mean so much. 💫

⛳ Impact that goes beyond the green starts here.

This August, while the pros compete at the Rogers Charity Classic, you can help create something even bigger—comfort, care, and hope for children and families facing crisis.

When you donate to Children’s Cottage Society through Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink, 100% of your gift goes directly to our charity and can be matched up to 50%, helping your support go even further.

Thanks to this incredible program, more than $164 million has been raised for over 316 children and youth charities across Alberta—because every birdie helps build a brighter future.

Connection is powerful—especially when it comes to mental wellness. 💛

Parenting can feel overwhelming at times, but no one is meant to do it alone. That’s where our Family Resource Centre comes in.

Through programs like MindSparks for babies and toddlers, early literacy programs, and parent-focused groups, families can come together, share experiences, and build meaningful connections.

These moments, whether it’s a conversation, a shared laugh, or simply being in a room with others who understand, can make a real difference in how parents and caregivers feel.

Because when families feel connected, supported, and seen, mental wellness grows stronger for both parents and their children. 🌿

We are so grateful for the passion, leadership, and compassion shown by the University of Calgary’s Children’s Cottage Club 💛

This incredible student-led club supports the vision that resilient children blossom into healthy families, helping create meaningful impact through volunteering, donation drives, and creative community initiatives.

🗨 In the words of student Eugena:

"Children's Cottage UCalgary was founded to support Children's Cottage Society's mission that resilient children blossom in healthy families. From volunteering directly with programs to organizing donation drives and creative service events, our goal is to make sure families feel supported in tangible, real ways.

Many of our members have fond memories of connecting with children at the Cottage, such as being gifted drawings, helping a child count, holding a newborn baby for the first time, playing games on the playground, or seeing a face light up after making their own slushie.

As part of the University of Calgary community, we’re proud to help create an environment where leadership and compassion go hand in hand. Our club is built on teamwork and the belief that small, consistent actions can create lasting change."

Thank you to all the students involved for sharing your time, energy, and heart with the children and families we serve. Your kindness and commitment are helping create lasting impact in our community ✨

🌍 World Day for Cultural Diversity 🌍

We believe that truly supporting families means honouring who they are - including their culture.
For example, at our Crisis Nursery, our kitchen team considers culture when preparing meals to bring feelings of familiarity to an otherwise unknown environment.

On World Diversity Day, we celebrate the rich cultural fabric of the families we serve and reaffirm our commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where every child and caregiver feels seen, respected, and valued. 🫶

Today we’re celebrating the super-pollinators that keep our gardens blooming, our food growing, and our ecosystems thriving! 🐝✨

Did you know?

🐝 Calgary is home to over 180 species of wild bees!
🐝 Bees help pollinate around one-third of the food we eat.
🐝 Many of our favourite fruits, veggies, and flowers depend on these tiny heroes.
Bees may be small, but their impact is huge!

To protect bees and their habitat, the City of Calgary recommends:

• Adding bee-friendly plants to your garden;
• Leaving hollow stems and leaf litter in your yard over the winter;
• Installing a mason bee house.

Let’s give a little love to these little pollinators that help our world grow!
