🏠💛 The RONA EN Foundation’s Home Sweet Home campaign is officially underway!

We’re honoured to share that three Calgary RONA locations have selected the Children’s Cottage Society as their local charity partner for this year’s campaign:

💛 RONA Calgary (Forest Lawn)
💛 RONA+ Calgary McKenzie
💛 RONA+ Calgary Signal Hill

From now until October 12, customers at these locations can support the Children’s Cottage Society through the Home Sweet Home campaign.

Today, we’re giving a special thank you to the team at RONA Calgary (Forest Lawn) for choosing to support the children and families we serve.

If Forest Lawn is your neighbourhood RONA, keep an eye out for the campaign during your next visit. Every contribution helps provide comfort, care, and hope to families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Sacred Voices – The Movement (Ages 14-18)

Indigenous youth ages 14–18 are invited to join Sacred Voices – The Movement, a special evening hosted in partnership with the Planet Youth Indigenous Parallel team and Children’s Cottage Society.

Through small group circles, youth will have the opportunity to share their lived experiences, goals, hopes, and dreams for the future, while discussing what matters to them and what they would like to see in their communities to support youth well-being and healthy choices.

This is a chance for Indigenous youth to have their voices heard and help shape conversations about what could make their communities stronger and more supportive for young people.

📆 Date: September 8, 2026
⏰ Time: 5:30–8:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Children’s Cottage Society
✨ Ages: 14–18

Food and snacks will be provided, and each participant will receive a $50 gift card and a thank-you gift for their participation.

🧡 September is Self-Care Awareness Month, a reminder that caring for yourself is part of caring for your family.

For parents and caregivers, self-care does not have to be big or complicated. It might look like five quiet minutes, stepping outside for fresh air, accepting help, attending an appointment, or reaching out when things feel like too much.

Self-care can also mean knowing when to ask for support.

At the Children’s Cottage, Nan’s Place, the Crisis Nursery offers up to three days of care for children during a family crisis, giving parents and caregivers time to focus on what they need to take care of while knowing their children are safe and supported.

For families who do not need overnight care, Daytime Respite Care offers short-term, daytime care for children ages newborn to 9 years old, Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

This support can help when families need time to attend appointments, manage urgent responsibilities, or simply take a moment to rest and recharge.

To talk to someone about Daytime Respite Care, call 403-233-2273 ext. 1.

If you are looking for support but are not sure where to start, our 24/7 Cottage Link Line is your first step to accessing our programs and services:

A heartfelt thank you to community member Simran for turning a thoughtful idea into meaningful support for families accessing our Family Mental Wellness Hub. 💛

Simran applied for a grant to create care packages for families, then brought together a group of volunteers to help assemble them.

They joined us last weekend to put the kits together and will be back again tomorrow to make even more.

We’re so grateful for the time, care, and initiative behind this project.

Thank you, Simran, and to everyone who helped make these care packages possible. 💛

40 years, a few logo refreshes, and one little flower & house that have been with us from the beginning!

The Children’s Cottage is jumping on the logo progression trend! From our hand-drawn roots in 1987 to the logo you know today, our look has evolved right alongside us.

Fun fact: Carmel Gatt created the original Children’s Cottage logo, including the flower that symbolizes hope. Carmel was a former Board member and President, architect of our Bridgeland Crisis Nursery, and longtime volunteer.

Decades later, his contribution is still at the heart of our identity as a place of care, connection, and hope.

Which version do you think of when you think of The Cottage? 🤔🏠
