With over 160 participants coming from far and wide (Winnipeg!), our annual Smash to Serve Pickleball Tournament this past weekend was a smashing success! A huge thank you to all the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and players who helped us raise over $17,000 to support food security for Calgarians in need. Plus - we got to have lots of fun! We hope to see you all again next year.

We are excited that tomorrow and Sunday we will be hosting our 3rd annual Smash to Serve Pickleball Fundraiser! 🏓
With over 150 participants it will be a busy couple of days, but we are looking forward to having lots of fun and raising lots of dollars for our food security programs that help feed vulnerable Calgarians.

At The Salvation Army, we have a vision to share hope and build just communities. Today, we remember our Indigenous neighbours who were denied hope and justice and ask for courage to listen, learn, and sit with uncomfortable truths.
May this day of remembrance deepen our desire for reconciliation and may we walk forward together in a good way.

As many of us will be off work tomorrow, our team, together with our residents, participated in National Day of Truth & Reconciliation activities today.

In remembrance, we wore our orange shirts, shared and learned, and enjoyed tasty bannock and stew (a big thank you to our Kitchen Team and the volunteers who helped serve!). These small steps are how we walk the journey of reconciliation together.

Inspired by Proverbs 31:8 'Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.', we join with others around the world today to pray for victims of modern slavery and human trafficking.

We pray for those trapped and desperate in the darkness of this injustice right here in Calgary. Open our eyes and make us people of action; seeking solutions, offering grace and love, and bringing light and hope.
