New research from the University of Calgary is highlighting something people at Wellspring have experienced firsthand: mind-body practices can play an important role in life after cancer treatment.

The MATCH study followed more than 500 cancer survivors and found that mindfulness and tai chi-qigong practices helped ease common long-term challenges, including fatigue, pain and sleep problems. The research was led by Dr. Linda Carlson of the University of Calgary, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Toronto and Mass General Brigham.

At Wellspring Alberta, we offer both Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery and Tai Chi-Qigong programs to people living with cancer and their caregivers. These programs give people living with cancer and their caregivers opportunities to learn practices they can bring into their everyday lives.

It was wonderful to join the Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club community this past weekend for their year-end celebration. Thank you for having us, and for the warm welcome you continue to show Wellspring Alberta. 💚

The occasion had us reflecting on what an incredible first year it has been as the charity partner of the Priddis Greens Charity Classic.

We are so pleased to share that the 2026 Priddis Greens Charity Classic back in August raised over $175,000 in support of Wellspring Alberta! ⛳️

We are so grateful to the Priddis Greens community, tournament organizers, sponsors, volunteers, donors and everyone who participated, bid, bought a raffle ticket or contributed to this remarkable result.

These funds will help Wellspring continue to provide programs and services free of charge to people living with cancer, caregivers and families across Alberta, ensuring they have somewhere to turn for the emotional, physical, practical, financial and social challenges that cancer brings.

And this is just the beginning. We are incredibly proud to be the charity partner of the Priddis Greens Charity Classic through 2028 and look forward to what we can accomplish together over the next two years.

Thank you, Priddis Greens, for standing alongside Albertans facing cancer.

There’s more than one way to find support at Wellspring.

For Yolanda, that meant trying a variety of programs throughout her cancer experience, including Supportive Conversations, Tai Chi, Sound Meditation and Money Matters.

Each program gave her a different kind of support as she navigated treatment, recovery and life after cancer.

What can a blank canvas reveal about a cancer journey?

Inspired by an online art program with Wellspring Alberta, Charlotte used self-portraiture and symbolism to explore her experiences with cancer, heritage and healing—and express emotions that can be difficult to put into words.

Her story shows how Wellspring’s online programs bring connection, creativity and support to people across Alberta, wherever they are.
