Leadership doesn't always happen in the place where you first learned to lead.

That's part of what makes Classroom Champions Athlete Mentor Anita Alvarez such a fantastic role model. Her journey has taken her from USA Artistic Swimming to a completely different environment, where new experiences challenged her to learn, adapt, and grow.

For students, that's such a valuable lesson to learn - that leadership is a transferrable skill we can carry with us into new teams, classrooms, communities, and chapters of life.

Through mentorship, Classroom Champions connects students with athletes like Anita who model the Champion Mindset in real time and show that leadership is something you can keep developing wherever your journey takes you.

Big news for LA classrooms! 👀

We're excited to be teaming up with USA Artistic Swimming to bring four incredible athletes into schools as mentors this year — Anita Alvarez, Jaime Czarkowski, Ana Martinez, and Elle Santana.

These are Olympic and World Championship medalists who know exactly what it takes to set a goal, push through hard practices, and show up for a team. Now they'll be sharing those lessons directly with K-8 students in Los Angeles with LA28 just around the corner.

This school year, Classroom Champions is teaming up with USA Field Hockey to bring Team USA athletes directly into K–8 classrooms nationwide.

One of the mentors leading the way is Christian DeAngelis, a Pennsylvania native and member of the USA Men's National Field Hockey Team, featured last week in the Bucks County Herald. Through Classroom Champions, Christian & 4 other USA Field Hockey athletes will be sharing real lessons about confidence, resilience, leadership, and teamwork drawn straight from their journeys in the sport.
