Last week was an exciting one at Wentworth Manor! We celebrated the opening of a brand-new outdoor pergola on Wednesday, followed by a Summer Fiesta on Friday, which was the perfect way to put the new space to good use. 🎉

Our community came together at the Summer Fiesta to mark 30 years of Wentworth Manor, with a BBQ, entertainment, local vendors and more!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to celebrate with us, and a special thank you to our Maintenance team for their hard work bringing the pergola project across the finish line and making this vision a reality.

We look forward to seeing the new pergola enjoyed for outdoor events, activities and everyday moments for years to come! ☀️

Did you know? Grandparent fraud is a scam that targets older adults.

A scammer may pretend to be a grandchild or family member experiencing an emergency and ask for money right away. In some cases, criminals may also use technology, including AI-generated voices, to make their story seem more convincing.

Awareness is one of the best ways to help prevent fraud. Here are a few ways to protect yourself and your loved ones:

✔️ Pause and verify before sending money. Contact your loved one through a trusted phone number or another family member to confirm the situation.
✔️ Talk openly with family about common scams and how to respond.
✔️ Be cautious of urgent requests that pressure you to act immediately.
✔️ Create a family safe word or passphrase that only your family knows to help verify emergencies.

Institut Brenda Strafford in Haiti continues to find new ways to enhance the patient experience.

Recently, the Institut launched a new student volunteer pilot project to help create a more welcoming and coordinated experience for patients. Volunteers will welcome and guide patients throughout the facility, helping them more easily find the services they need. Patient feedback will help measure the impact of the pilot and identify opportunities for further improvement.

“Everything starts small, and sometimes the impact is not immediately apparent. If my support means that one more family can leave a dangerous situation, that would be enough.”

Our Child Development Centre provides a safe, secure, and trauma-informed space for children aged 0-12, where they can learn, play, and heal.

Through specialized programming, children are supported with:

Do you know about Clare’s Law?

In Alberta, Clare’s Law gives people who feel they may be at risk of domestic violence a way to request information about an intimate partner’s history of violence or abuse.

The law is designed to help people make more informed decisions about their safety and relationships.

Under Clare’s Law, there are two ways information may be disclosed:

▪️Right to Ask – For Public Use: An individual who is concerned about their current or former intimate partner can apply to find out whether there is relevant information indicating a risk of domestic violence.

▪️Right to Know – For Police Use: Police can initiate the process when they have reason to believe someone may be at risk of domestic violence and relevant information about their partner may help protect them.
