On Thursday, October 22, we are joining the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation’s Night Light Walk in support of women, children and families impacted by family violence.

Funds raised through the walk will support Heart Home Network and Discovery House Family Violence Prevention Society, helping provide safe housing, programs and services for individuals and families.

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

We recognize the lasting and intergenerational impacts of the residential school system and the importance of continuing to listen, learn and reflect.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey and a shared responsibility. We encourage our community to learn more and find ways to participate in reconciliation today and throughout the year.

For more than 40 years, we've been working to improve access to healthcare in Haiti.

Institut Brenda Strafford provides ophthalmology and Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) services in Les Cayes, Haiti, with more than 55,000 consultations and 2,000 surgeries in a typical year.

The Institut has more than 100 employees, and 95% of the team is local. Together, we’re helping make specialized care more accessible to communities across southern Haiti.

Strengthening eye health across the Eastern Caribbean. 👁️🌎

The Brenda Strafford Foundation is working with the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States on the Regional Eye Health Strategic Plan Project to strengthen equitable access to eye care in the Eastern Caribbean.

The project brings a regional approach to understanding eye health needs, identifying gaps and opportunities, and informing priorities for stronger eye health systems across seven Eastern Caribbean countries:
• Antigua & Barbuda
• Dominica
• Grenada
• Montserrat
• Saint Kitts & Nevis
• Saint Lucia
• Saint Vincent & the Grenadines

The project is sponsored by The Brenda Strafford Foundation and the project launch was also supported by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (VISION 2020/IAPB).

As part of this work, BSF's Dr. Barrie Strafford Centre for Learning, Innovation, & Quality (CLIQ) developed the regional eye health dashboard, bringing data together in an accessible format to help explore eye health needs and inform planning across the region.
