Supporting Indigenous Youth Through Connection and Community
Today, Miskanawah was proud to participate in the Planet Youth Conference Calgary, joining organizations and community leaders to explore ways to strengthen youth well-being and turn insights into action for improved outcomes.
Miskanawah's Lead Oskâpêwis and CEO, Kirby Redwood, along with Youth Elders Tara Brass, Tavan Jobin, and Summer Wayner, highlight the importance of the Planet Youth Calgary Parallel and how Indigenous-led approaches help young people thrive.
Guided by Blackfoot teachings on active kinship, the Indigenous Parallel honours Indigenous knowledge, storytelling and cultural teachings while strengthening relationships and creating spaces where Indigenous youth feel heard, valued, understood and supported.
Through mentorship and meaningful connections, Youth Elders inspire a ripple effect of leadership, empowering young people to share their knowledge, support one another and strengthen their communities.
Together, we can nurture stronger relationships and safer, healthier, more inclusive communities where young people feel connected, empowered and able to thrive.
