As families and friends gather to share a meal, we're reminded of the important role fresh produce plays in bringing people together.

🍂 October brings a fresh wave of opportunities to the produce aisle!

As shoppers embrace fall routines, seasonal favourites like apples, squash, pumpkins, and root vegetables take centre stage. From comforting home-cooked meals to Thanksgiving gatherings, fresh produce continues to play an important role in how Canadians shop, cook, and connect.

For retailers and produce partners, it's a great time to showcase seasonal variety, inspire meal ideas, and make fresh choices easy for customers.

September is a delicious time of year in the produce aisle. 🍎🥕🥔

As summer gives way to fall, there’s an abundance of colour and variety to inspire everything from school lunches to comforting family dinners. Apples, pears, carrots, potatoes, squash and other seasonal favourites make it easy to bring more fruits and vegetables to the table.

This month, challenge yourself to pick up something seasonal, try it in a new recipe and make Half Your Plate fruits and vegetables. What’s your must-have produce for fall?

Back to school means the return of backpacks, busy mornings and the daily lunchbox challenge. 🍎📚

Fresh fruits and vegetables can make school-day snacks simple, colourful and delicious. Try letting kids choose a few favourites at the grocery store and help wash, portion, or pack them for the week ahead. Getting them involved can make reaching for produce feel like their choice, too!

Hello, fall! 🍂 With a new season comes a fresh lineup of produce to enjoy—from crisp apples and hearty potatoes to squash, carrots and so many other seasonal favourites.

It’s also a time to recognize the growers, distributors, retailers and industry partners working behind the scenes to bring fresh fruits and vegetables from farm to table across our communities.

Here’s to a season filled with fresh flavours, colourful plates and plenty of reasons to celebrate produce.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported CalPMA’s Annual Charity Fall Harvest Sale!

This event is only possible because of the incredible support of our produce community, including an amazing 85 sponsors who helped bring this year’s sale to life. 👏

And, of course, thank you to everyone who stopped by, filled their carts and helped us give back. Proceeds from the sale support the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary and other local charities making a difference in our communities. 💛

Meet the people helping move CalPMA and our produce community forward. 🌱

This month, we’re introducing CalPMA Board Member Shauna VanderSpruit, Director of Sales and Marketing at Big Marble Farms.

Shauna brings valuable industry experience and perspective to the CalPMA Board, helping strengthen the connections that bring growers, retailers, distributors and industry partners together across the Prairies.

Through her work with Big Marble Farms, Shauna is part of an Alberta-grown greenhouse industry that brings fresh produce to Western Canadian communities year-round. We’re grateful to have her voice and experience at the CalPMA table.
