Sunday is the last day to order your custom Legacy Sign 🪧

At this year’s Legacy Run/Walk presented by the Scott Smed Foundation, the path through Nose Creek Park will be lined with signs carrying the names of babies who are loved, remembered, and missed every single day.
Your baby’s name, displayed for our whole community to see. Spoken without hesitation. Honoured out loud.

If you’ve been meaning to order one, this is your gentle nudge.

Orders close Sunday, June 14.

A heartfelt thank you to Desa Glass, our Legacy Signage Sponsor, for making these signs possible. Your generosity helps families see their babies’ names held with the care they deserve.

In 2021, Soraya and her husband made the devastating decision to end their pregnancy after their son Amaanat was diagnosed with a brain anomaly at 20 weeks. He was delivered on October 14th, just one day before Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

In the days that followed, she did what so many people do. She looked for somewhere to put her grief. Somewhere that would see her not only as someone who had lost a pregnancy, but as a mother.

She found PILSC.

Through a closed six-week support group, Soraya found a community of eight people who gathered every week, said each other’s babies’ names out loud, lit candles, and talked about their children not only in terms of absence rather in terms of presence.

That group stayed connected long after the six weeks ended. WhatsApp messages. Scheduled calls. Floods of candle photos sent to each other in the dark.

That is what this community makes possible. Not simply a service. A community and the kind that stays.

The 5th Annual PILSC Legacy Run/Walk presented by the Scott Smed Foundation is on June 27th at Nose Creek Park in Airdrie, Alberta.

This is how we make sure families like Soraya’s never have to navigate loss alone.

🏃🏽‍♀️Register to walk or run in person, join us virtually from anywhere in Canada, or start a fundraising page and raise money on behalf of the families who need this support most.

A heartfelt thank you to the IODE Colonel James Chapter for sponsoring the medals at this year’s Legacy Run/Walk. 🏅

Every participant who crosses the finish line carries something with them. A name, a memory, a love that doesn’t fade. The medal placed around their neck becomes a small marker of that. Proof they showed up, moved through it, and honoured someone who matters to them.

Thanks to IODE Colonel James Chapter, each person leaves with something to hold. A tangible reminder that their grief was witnessed and their baby was remembered.

Thank you for helping us give this community a moment worth keeping.

The hardest part of supporting someone through loss is not the first week, when everyone shows up with food and condolences.

It’s month three, when the world has moved on and they are still standing in it.

It’s the random Tuesday in the grocery store, frozen in the baby aisle.

It’s the due date, the anniversary, the second Mother’s Day that somehow lands harder than the first.

Most people treat support like a sprint, something you pour out in the first raw days and then quietly retire.

Yet grief is not a sprint. It is a long, uneven road, and the people walking it need company most on the stretches where everyone else has already turned back.

You do not need the perfect words for any of it.

You do not need to fix anything, because nothing about this is fixable.

You only need to be the person who still remembers. The one who texts on the date that matters. The one who says their baby’s name out loud. The one who shows up in month three, and month nine, and the second year, when the silence from everyone else has gotten loud.

That is the whole job. Not eloquence or solutions. Simply staying.

🔖 Save this so you remember the dates that matter. Then send it to someone who is learning how to hold a person they love.

We become better at this together.

A reminder that legacy sign orders close June 14th.

If you’ve been thinking about ordering one, this is your sign. Literally.

Your baby’s name, placed along the route at Nose Creek Park on June 27th. Seen by every walker, runner, and roller who passes. Carried by a community that refuses to let these lives go unnoticed. And after the event, it comes home with you.

A name on a sign sounds simple. Yet for a grieving parent, seeing their baby’s name out in the world, held by strangers who showed up anyway, is anything but.

Orders close Sunday June 14th. Link in bio to order yours before the deadline.

And a heartfelt thank you to Desa Glass for sponsoring the Legacy Signage this year. Because of their generosity, these names get to be seen.

We are so thrilled to share that our co-founder, Aditi Loveridge, will be the emcee of this year’s 5th Annual Legacy Run/Walk presented by the Scott Smed Foundation.

Aditi’s vision, leadership, and deep care built the Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Centre (PILSC) and this event into what it is today, a space where grieving families are seen, held, and never alone.

There is no one we’d rather have holding the mic and holding this community together on June 27th.

And we couldn’t bring you a stage worth standing on without the Airdrie & District Community Foundation, our Stage & Emcee Sponsor. Their generous support funded the audio and visual equipment that makes sure every name spoken, every story shared, and every moment of remembrance is heard loud and clear.

Thank you for helping us amplify what matters most. 💜

Nobody warns you that grief can make you weirdly productive.

Suddenly you’re reorganizing, planning, learning a new language, doing anything to keep moving
so you don’t have to sit in the quiet
where the grief lives.

It isn’t avoidance because something’s wrong with you.

It’s your nervous system trying to protect you from a wave it’s scared might pull you under.

Yet grief doesn’t disappear when you stay busy.
It waits.

And it deserves a space to land when you’re ready.

On June 27th, custom legacy signs bearing babies’ names will be placed along the route at Nose Creek Park. Every walker, runner, and person who shows up that morning will pass those names. They will see them, and carry them, even if just for a kilometre.

Waylon. Jack. Ellie Rose. Rex Rose. Sharolyn. Babies who never came home. Whose names don’t get said out loud nearly enough.

This is how we say them.

You can dedicate a custom legacy sign in your baby’s name, or in honour of someone you love. It will be placed along the route on June 27th and after the event it’s yours to take home.

Orders close June 14th.
