The Rotary Club of Werribee Community Grants program is making a real difference across Wyndham by supporting grassroots organisations that deliver practical help where it’s needed most. One of the standout recipients is The Big Group Hug, a Melbourne-based charity helping vulnerable children and families with essential items such as clothing, prams, cots, nappies and toys.

In 2025, Werribee Rotary awarded seven local groups grants of $3,000 each through its third annual Community Grants program. Big Group Hug was among the successful recipients, alongside organisations including Truganina CFA, Helping Hampers and Wyndham Vale Men’s Shed. Club President Lyn Fava said the club was proud to support community groups continuing vital local programs during challenging times.

The grants program focuses on projects that promote fairness, inclusiveness and community wellbeing, with funding available for areas such as youth support, homelessness, mental health and family services. Applications are open annually to registered community organisations within Wyndham.

Big Group Hug now supports more than 6,000 children across Victoria every year by redistributing over 120,000 essential items to families facing hardship, while also reducing landfill waste through reuse and recycling initiatives.

Werribee Rotary is thrilled to share that Rhythms & Rides was an outstanding success, raising an incredible $14,000 to support those affected by domestic violence.
