✨Shout out to our favourite Ambassador 😃
We first met Ambassador Ernesto Dueñas about 12 years ago, when we were fundraising for Salvador’s HOPE at Sandown Raceway. During the annual homage speech to El Salvador on Sunday, I remember being struck by the way Ernesto shared his dedication to bringing our community together and see us stand united.
After his speech, I made my way to the back of one of the food stalls, where he was casually chatting with people, and introduced myself. Our passion and love for El Salvador immediately connected us.
Although my apron was covered in food, grease, and grime from the BBQ, I remember he warmly greeted and welcomed me with open arms.
Since then, Ambassador, you have consistently extended your kindness and support. You have become a dear friend, and I feel honoured by the many opportunities you have given me to participate in our community’s celebrations (even though I would only MC in English 😉).
We hold great affection for you and your beautiful wife, Irene. Chris and I will never forget the kindness and generosity you have shown us and our work in El Salvador.
We will miss you here in Australia, but we look forward to sharing un cafecito ☕️ with you and Irene in our beloved El Salvador!
