💜 SLIDE - A PLACE To BELONG
Sometimes the most powerful stories about SLIDE aren’t told on stage.
They’re written by the young people whose lives it touches. ❤️
When we asked our alumni and young dancers why SLIDE matters, their answers spoke of belonging, creativity, confidence, friendship and family.
✨ “It’s my safe space.”
✨ “It’s like a second family.”
✨ “It’s where I can be me.”
✨ “They make you feel loved + happy.”
✨ “It was more than just a place to go; it was a place where I felt comfortable, accepted, and truly part of a family.”
Chelsea Langmaid — Alumni
✨ “Slide Youth Dance Theatre provided a platform for me to grow as an artist, person, teacher and in spirit. Being part of the company deepened my understanding of myself and the community around me while exposing me to the complex societal issues that inform and shape the intention behind the dance works that are created. Slide taught me as a young person that dance can be more than art, it can be a powerful vehicle for storytelling, reflection, connection and social change.”
Kathryn Crocker - Alumni, Mentor, Choreographer, Educator.
✨ “It’s such a warm and welcoming environment. Not only do you get to be creative and improve your skills as performer. You get to also through dance engage with the world and critically think about issues affecting young people.”
Milly LaPira - Alumni, Mentor.
✨ “SLIDE is the laughter, the friendships, the creative chaos, the technical advancement and the unforgettable memories that will stay with me forever.”
Tahnee Cvirn — Alumni, Mentor, Education Consultant.

Behind every performance is a young person discovering their confidence, creativity, friendships and place in the world.
At SLIDE Youth Dance Theatre, we’re not simply nurturing dancers. We’re helping young Territorians grow into confident, resilient and expressive individuals who know their voices matter.
This is why SLIDE matters. This is why the arts matter.
And this is what your support helps protect and grow.
💜 On Thursday 22 October, AusArt Day gives you an opportunity to help make more of these experiences possible.
Eligible donations can be doubled through Creative Australia’s matching initiative.
