Inspire, educate, and develop are the hallmark characteristics of choreographers who have chosen to work with young people to create new performance works that are relevant and meaningful to youth. They are features specific to performances that are dedicated to tackling the hard issues; core concerns of youth that are not conducive to didactic lectures. It is known to be difficult to educate youn

g people about sensitive and relevant issues, such as drink driving. Dance education theatre empowers young people and allows messages to be contextualised and better understood. SLIDE is an independent company that has harnessed this method and has begun exploring the value of utilising dance theatre as an educating device. SLIDE has created TIME - a pivotal and confronting work based on teenage road death and BRAVE a production centred on the cruelty of teenage bullying and the impact on those who are affected.

While company 2 are learning choreography for ‘Someone Else’s Story’ which will hit the AANT stage in September.
