A wonderful piece of history recently shared with us by Michael Raley.

These photographs show the Cessna A-37B Dragonfly we have on display here at the Musuem - during its operational service with the Republic of Vietnam Air Force, with Michael’s father, Col. David E. Raley, standing beside the aircraft.

Michael kindly sent through both the original slide scan and a restored version for our archives.

Thank you, Michael, for sharing this special connection to the aircraft’s history with us. 💙

The Canola Trail season has begun, and Goldrush Ballooning are back in Temora for their first flight of the season tomorrow morning, Saturday 15 August.

Flights depart from Temora Airport and finish back here with a glass of prosecco and chocolates. Guardhouse Cafe Temora will also be open if you’d like to grab a warm drink or some breakfast after your flight. ☕️

Last Friday, we were honoured to welcome a special guest to the Temora Aviation Museum - Robyn Gibbes, one of the daughters of Australian fighter pilot Bobby Gibbes.

During her visit, Robyn spent time with the Spitfire Mk VIII, which is painted in her father’s personal markings, and flew the Spitfire Full Motion Flight Simulator.

The Museum has shared a long and valued association with Bobby, and it was a privilege to welcome Robyn and reflect on her father’s remarkable service, courage and lifelong contribution to Australian aviation. 💙

On 1 May 2026, Temora Historic Flight No. 100 Squadron aircraft joined the Air Force Roulettes and a No. 35 Squadron C-27J Spartan for a special air-to-air photography exercise ahead of the May Aircraft Showcase. The operation captured these iconic aircraft flying together in formation over Temora.

Temora's Aviation Museum's Chief Engineer & Flight Lieutenant - Andrew Bishop | Co-Pilot of the Lockheed Hudson.

"By day, Flight Lieutenant Andrew Bishop serves as Chief Engineer for Temora Aviation Museum Engineering.

As a reservist, he flies the very aircraft he helps to maintain. Having operated more than 35 aircraft types throughout his career, FLTLT Bishop has a unique perspective between the cockpit and the hangar and describes co-piloting the 1941 Lockheed Hudson within No. 100 Squadron as the great privilege of his career.

By supporting the team that maintains the aircraft to its high standards, he ensures the general public get to experience history in action.

Whether flying the CAC Wirraway, which he has displayed since 2011, or sharing stories of World War II veterans and his own grandfather, FLTLT Bishop says that preserving these connections to the Air Force's heritage remains the most rewarding part of his service"
