Today, on National Sorry Day, we remember the Stolen Generations and acknowledge the pain and trauma caused by the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, communities, and culture.

National Sorry Day marks the anniversary of the Bringing Them Home report, which gave voice to the experiences of the Stolen Generations.

We honour the strength and resilience of survivors, and reflect on the responsibility we all share in truth-telling, healing, and reconciliation.

Last week, we had delegates from Traincrew, Travel & Tourism and Admin come together in our Brisbane office for three days of intensive delegate training.

From learning the ins and outs of enterprise agreements to building confidence in representing members and growing union strength on the ground, these delegates put in the work.

One of the best parts? Hearing delegates share stories, experiences and learn from each other. That’s how stronger workplaces are built.

Keep an eye out for these trained-up delegates back in the workplace, and if you’re a keen activist or thinking about stepping up as a delegate, there’ll be more training opportunities coming soon. Reach out to your RTBU organiser and get involved.

QLD GOV'S EFFORT TO SUSPEND INDUSTRIAL ACTION DISMISSED

We have just received notice from the Fair Work Commission that the Queensland Government's second attempt to suspend our protected industrial action has been dismissed.

This is a significant outcome for our members, who will retain their right to take lawful protected industrial action as part of bargaining for a fair agreement that protects pay and conditions.

Importantly, the Commission accepted that bargaining has continued to progress during industrial action and was not persuaded that suspending action would help resolve the dispute.

From the outset of our campaign, we have been careful and measured in our approach. We have deliberately structured our actions to avoid shutting down the network and to minimise impacts on the travelling public as much as possible.

It is disappointing that instead of focusing on reaching an agreement, the Queensland Government again attempted to silence us with lawfare.

All we want is a fair deal for our members, and we won't back down until we get it.

Today we’re celebrating Ben Willson, Protection Officer at Queensland Rail and an outstanding RTBU delegate.

As a dedicated HSR and union delegate, Ben goes above and beyond, sharing knowledge, championing safety, and always putting his members first (often in his own time). His approachability, dedication to a safe workplace, and genuine care have earned him huge respect on the job.

Thank you, Ben, for everything you do to keep workers safe and supported. ✊
