Today, TWU members stood alongside Queensland unions outside a Queensland Media Club event sponsored by Cleanaway, with a keynote speech from LNP Premier David Crisafulli, to send a clear message that safety and workers’ rights must come first.

This comes just one week after Jarrod Bleijie and the LNP Government announced their plans to attack workers’ right to strike and erode access to WorkCover compensation .

We also called out Cleanaway’s appalling safety record. Eight workers have lost their lives at Cleanaway workplaces since 2022. While workers and their families have paid the ultimate price, corporate executives continue to take home millions.

Safety must always come before profits, and when workers’ rights are under attack, the union movement will stand up and fight back.

TWU Delegates met last week at TWU House for T3 training, sharpening their organising skills and building new strategies to take back to their workplaces.

The training brought together delegates from across the union, including many of our most experienced and longest-serving workplace fighters, proving that there's always something new to learn and share - even for our most seasoned leaders.

TWU Queensland Director of Organising Josh Millroy met with members at TGE Brisbane Airport this morning, celebrating their historic in-principle agreement and discussing the road ahead.

Members will soon head to a formal vote on the proposed deal, which secures stronger pay, improved full utilisation, site ratio, and overtime provisions, and strong future of work protections.

The meeting also saw TWU member Jason elected as a delegate, joining delegates Kayla, Teresa, and Rohit to lead his yard and consolidate their strength 👊

TWU Virgin Ramp Members are sending a strong message to the company, committing to keeping up the fight to bring Virgin to the table.

Virgin continues to deny these workers appropriate resource levels, movement caps, and a base-rate increase to keep up with the cost of living.

These workers keep our planes in the sky - they deserve a deal that keeps them safe at work, and keeps food on their table.

Together, we can stop the aviation sector’s race to the bottom.

That was the message from our Aviation Panel at this year’s TWU Queensland Delegates Conference, where aviation delegates from across Queensland shared their experiences and discussed the fight ahead for a better industry future.

From airport operations and cabin crew to ground handling and catering, aviation workers continue to bear the brunt of Alan Joyce’s legacy: unacceptable safety standards, insecure work, and wages that have failed to keep up with the cost of living and the demanding work they do.

But workers are fighting back, and when we fight, we win. These delegates are leading the charge to take back workers’ power and restore the industry through collective strength 💪
