It's National Safe Work Month! Work safety is core union business.

From enforcing safe staffing levels in hospitals and schools, to securing mental health protections for workers, to banning hazardous materials and improving workplace safety laws — these gains didn’t happen by accident. They were won because workers stood together through their unions.

Safe workplaces exist because people organised, campaigned and refused to accept unsafe conditions.

Two years ago, Queensland workers made history.
Now we want to hear what reproductive health leave has meant for you.
If you’ve had access to paid reproductive health leave at work, share your experience and help us fight to make 10 days paid reproductive health leave a national workplace right.
Your story can help us win this for workers everywhere.

Group shots from many of the strike actions across Queensland that happened last Friday.

In Bundaberg, Toowoomba, Ipswich, North and South Brisbane - just about everywhere, Child Safety and Youth Justice members made their voices heard.

29/09/2026

Last Friday Child Safety and Youth Justice members across Queensland walked off the job to send a message to the Queensland government that they deserve better.

From Bundaberg to Toowoomba, Ipswich, all over Brisbane, and across the state, delegates and members asked Crisafulli and the LNP to properly fund Child Safety and Youth Justice, fill the vacant positions, and put the children and families that they support first.
