MATES Charity Lunch Friday 7th August 2026

For many years Built has proudly supported MATES and the life-saving work they do across our industry.

In this video, Christian shares why supporting MATES matters—not just for workers on site but for their families, mates and communities as well.

The MATES Annual Charity Lunch is our biggest fundraiser of the year, bringing together industry leaders committed to creating safer and more supportive workplaces.

Our Annual Charity Lunch is fast approaching and we would love to see you there.

🎟️ Secure a table, bring your team, and help us continue making a difference for workers and their families across Queensland.

A huge thank you to Phil and the entire family from The Big Tuna Project for their incredible generosity in donating $5,000 from their recent Charity Golf Day.

This amazing contribution will directly support MATES in continuing our work to improve mental health and wellbeing across the construction industry, and ensure workers know that help is always available when they need it.

What makes this support even more special is the passion and purpose behind The Big Tuna Project. Founded by Phil, Caroline and their family in honour of Joel Wozniak, they're creating meaningful conversations around men's mental health and turning personal loss into lasting impact.

We're incredibly grateful to be involved with people who are making such a genuine difference in our communities.

Please take a moment to check out The Big Tuna Project and support their upcoming events and initiatives.

A huge shout out to Matt, Lisa and the MYBUILD GROUP team, for making time for workers to attend the General Awareness Training (G*T) last week in Cairns. These sessions had 26 workers attend, learning how to look out for their mates, and building a stronger, safer workplace together.

It's all about starting the conversation, breaking down the stigma, and making sure no one feels they have to do it on their own. Well done to all involved.

MATES Stronger Together

A big thank you to Amelia and Paul from Azure for having MATES on site to deliver our General Awareness Training to more than 100 residential construction workers.

It was fantastic to see such strong engagement and a genuine commitment to creating safer and healthier workplaces where conversations around mental health are encouraged and supported.

Thank you again to Amelia, Paul and the entire Azure team for prioritising the wellbeing of your workforce and for being passionate advocates for mental health in the industry.

Together, we're building stronger, safer and more connected workplaces.

MEN’S HEALTH WEEK

Men’s Health Week is a powerful reminder that looking after your health isn’t just physical — it’s mental too.

Too many men are still struggling in silence. In Australia, around 3 in 4 people who die by su***de are men — a statistic that reminds us why these conversations matter.

A simple check-in, a quick conversation, or having the courage to speak up can make a real difference.

No one should have to carry it alone.

Thankyou to our amazing volunteers who attended the MATES/ Anglicare ASIST in Darwin last week

Recently, Mates in Construction Field officers James and Anglicare Sascha facilitated a MATES ASIST training with this amazing group of volunteers, these legends are now walking through our community and industry supporting those who may have thoughts of su***de.

ASIST stands for Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training, and its framework is a simple tool that helps a person to intervene or support someone who may be having thoughts of su***de.

A massive thank you to each of these legends and their employers for investing your time to be a caregiver for those in our community who may be doing it tough - THANK YOU! 😊 🙏 👌

A heartfelt thank you to the youth crew for raising the most money during our Mates Big Lap fundraising event. Mates Big Lap is a powerful way to come together, raise awareness of mental health and su***de prevention across the construction, and honour the memory of the nine Australians who lose their lives to su***de every day.👏
