Did anyone else run their slowest ever Aintree Reserve parkrun time on Saturday morning?? If you did, it was likely because you were an absolute legend picking up rubbish for Clean Up Australia while you were jogging! And the 139 of you that came along to parkrun on Saturday morning have made a massive difference!

Our founder Jono Ingram (aka Max Gawn Runs) was delighted to see the number of people who ran to the turn around cone and then stopped for 5-10mins and helped us clean up along the wetland. This amazing effort meant that the disaster zone along that embankment is COMPLETELY CLEAN now thanks to all these incredible people!

A reminder about harvesting etiquette and also an update on wha you can harvest at the moment at Aintree Community Garden.

Unfortunately, we have had someone help themselves to our ENTIRE POTATO CROP. This is not appropriate. We have also had someone dig out and steal a chilli plant. This is also NOT how our volunteers expect the community to treat how they’ve spent their time & energy in our garden.

A reminder: NEVER take entire crops, and NEVER remove entire plants. If you’re ensure SPEAK TO A VOLUNTEER CALL OR TEXT JONO via our social pages or via our website.

And while our garden is always open and free for you to harvest respectfully, what we really love is when people volunteer and help us maintain it.

At the end of October the Aintree Community Garden partnered with City of Melton and hosted a Seniors Garden Party for the Victorian Seniors Festival. It was a beautiful morning of good food, great music, and conversation in the garden.

Ever wondered where the water goes? I’m out on my morning run and I’m following the water to find out!

We just hosted a Seniors Garden Party at Aintree Community Garden for the Victorian Seniors Festival with City of Melton.

This was fabulous morning with delicious garden themed food thanks to Madam Dolce, and live music from the amazing Lauren of Paper Cranes.

The weather was spectacular and it was a great morning to help people get out and about, seeing new spaces (like our Garden), and connect socially with one another.

Thanks again to Darren from Melton Council for all his support for the whole month of Seniors Festival events!

The Wattle Run: this wasn’t about speed or distance… it was all about the wattle 💛

Jono set out for a weekend run and ended up on a full-blown wattle hunt — stopping for photos, counting and identifying as many species as he could.

Of the 1,000 acacia species in Australia, how many different types of wattle do you think he spotted? 👀
