All PlusLife tissue grafts are donated in Australia. Nearly 15,000 grafts have been distributed for more than 8,500 patients since the bank was established.

PlusLife (Perth Bone & Tissue Bank) is a not-for-profit organisation that retrieves, processes and distributes donated human bone and tissue for transplant purposes. As a registered charity and the only bone bank in Western Australia, PlusLife provides an essential service to the health sector. 75% of grafts are distributed to benefit patients in Western Australian and approximately 25% is sent to interstate locations. Amongst the recipients are children and adolescents with spinal deformities, bone tumour patients (generally young people who have avoided amputation of a limb by receiving a graft); and many patients with arthritic joint disease caused by debilitating arthritis, whose mobility and general wellbeing has been improved by receiving bone grafts from PlusLife. Thank you to the Eye Bank Association of Australia and New Zealand (EBAANZ) for inviting us to join Vision 2020 at Parliament House Canberra. It was a privilege to share our combined knowledge with parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and eye care sector leaders, and to raise awareness of the life-changing impact of donation. 💙

Thanks to the generosity of a donor, doctors were able to save Chloe's leg from amputation — at just 16 years old.

A life-changing surgery gave Chloe back something the rest of us often take for granted: a normal life.

"A great organisation, thank you for the opportunity to donate."

That is the feedback we've received from one of our generous donors who chose to donate their hip bone through our Living Donor Program — a decision made during a routine hip replacement that can change the lives of others in need.

Donated bone can be used to treat spinal deformities, dental and facial bone loss, and complex joint surgeries, among other things.

A deceased donor can help transform up to 20 lives, and a living donor can transform up to 5.

Most people think of hearts or kidneys when they hear "donation" — but bone and tissue donation can be just as life-changing, helping people rebuild their lives in ways many don't expect.
