HERBAL ALCHEMY - Oct 17, Saturday

Curious about the medicinal plants growing in your garden and how to use them? Come get your hands into the herbs, learn something new and start building your own home herbal apothecary.

Fremantle Permaculture is bringing herbalist and naturopath Zoe Wilson from Alchemical Heart to Booragoon for an immersive, hands-on day exploring the world of herbal medicine.

You’ll discover traditional uses and plant lore, learn how to harvest and preserve herbs, make your own herbal tea, and explore traditional preparations including infusions, decoctions, infused oils, salves and tinctures.

It’s a lovely, practical expression of permaculture’s Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share ethics, while reconnecting us with knowledge passed down through generations.

It’s time again for our Annual General Meeting this Saturday 19th September! So, come and catch up with your permie friends for a 12:00 shared lunch at The Hub, Perron Place in Victoria Park. Onsite parking is available and it is a 2-minute walk from Victoria Park train station.

After lunch is the AGM at 1:00PM and we’d love to welcome members onto the committee.

Note: For country members who cannot attend, we will be providing online access to the meeting, with a meeting link sent out closer to the meeting date.

The next Kalamunda Garden Festival - Spring 2026 is on Sunday September 6th, from 10am to 3pm in Stirk Park, Kalamunda, WA.

We run the garden festival four times a year on the first Sunday of every season, and we only accept gardening-related stalls.

Featuring over 130 stalls, and presentations from guest speakers including Faye Arcaro, Trevor Cochrane, Phil Dudman, Jane Edmanson (via live link), Chris Ferreira, Digby Growns (Kings Park), Sabrina Hahn, Chelsea Payne (Kings Park), Gary Richards, Darren Seinor, Deryn Thorpe, and Andrea Whitely.

Last Sunday, fellow committee members Jen Hanna, Tanvier Fowler and Charles Otway were at Nannup Flower and Garden Festival, doing workshops- Introduction to Permaculture, Harvesting and Storing Greens- Prolonging the Harvest, Lawn to Food Forest in 3 years with Syntropic Gardening and a market stall. We made the most of the event, chatting to people, offering free copies and selling great books. The cold day didn't deter the large crowd from this year's festival. Go and visit the colourful Nannup this weekend.

Not long now to our big event. More trades added. Displays are progressing. We will have refreshments available via CWA Midland Branch and the powerhouse and Boiler room will open via Machinery Preservation Club of WA Inc free entry and parking near by.
