🧡 A vision that began more than 15 years ago has now become a reality.

A new dedicated Palliative Care Facility at Wyong Hospital has officially opened, marking an incredible milestone for the Central Coast community and for the Lions who have helped make it possible.

The Elsie’s Retreat Project, driven by dedicated volunteers and supported by The Lions Club of Wyoming-East Gosford Centennial Inc. and Lions Clubs across the Central Coast, has spent years advocating for better end-of-life care for local families.

And the result is something truly special. 🩵

The beautiful new facility includes 12 palliative care bedrooms with ensuites, communal and meeting spaces, and a peaceful outdoor area designed to provide comfort and dignity for patients, families and loved ones.

It is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when Lions, passionate community members and government work together towards a shared vision.

Most importantly, it is the realisation of Elsie’s dream.

We’re incredibly proud of the Lions and volunteers who have dedicated so much time, energy and heart to this project, and of everyone who has helped turn 15 years of advocacy into a lasting legacy for the Central Coast.

This is what Lions do: listen to their communities, champion the causes that matter and keep working until change happens. 🦁💙

Congratulations to everyone involved in this remarkable achievement.

🦁 HOW MANY LIONS CAN YOU SPOT IN THESE PHOTOS?

If you guessed four… you’re close. 😂

Yep, there’s our mascot hiding in there — but there are also a few real Lions Club members in these photos too.

And here’s something a lot of people probably don’t realise…

Free Trade Day is one of the many amazing programs supported by Lions Australia. ❤️

Behind every tradie who turns up with a ute full of tools, there’s an army of people working behind the scenes — sorting nominations, calling families, organising jobs, finding materials, chasing sponsors, coordinating volunteers and doing everything possible to make the day happen.

And even better, plenty of our Lions members are tradies themselves, so they organise the day AND roll their sleeves up when it arrives. 🛠️🦁

That’s why you don’t need to be a tradie to help with Free Trade Day.

If you’re organised, good with people, great at logistics, social media, admin, fundraising, photography — or you simply have the energy and heart to help run an event like this — we need people like you.

Just DM us. ❤️

Because over the coming weeks, something pretty special is about to happen.

We’ve received an incredible number of nominations from families and individuals doing it really tough. Right now, our team is working through them and figuring out just how many we can take on.

And very soon, we get to start making some pretty incredible phone calls…

“Your nomination has been accepted. The tradies are coming.” 🥹❤️

For some people, that phone call will mean hot water again.

A safer home.

A wheelchair ramp.

A roof that doesn’t leak.

Or simply knowing that, when things got really tough, their community hadn’t forgotten about them.

We can’t wait to share some good news over the coming weeks.

Tradie or not — there’s a place for you in this.

🦁❤️🛠️ The Business of Kindness.

🎗️ This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Lions are backing the search for better answers.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, families need hope. Researchers need funding. And every breakthrough matters. 💛

Through the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCRF), Lions Clubs across Australia are helping fund vital research into childhood cancers.

Over the past two years, the Foundation has committed more than $2 million to five major research projects across Australia.

One of those projects, led by researchers at the The University of Newcastle, Australia, has now been completed, while four others are progressing towards completion.

But there is still so much more to do.

The Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation - Alccrf has received numerous requests from researchers seeking support for the next generation of childhood cancer research.

💛 Our vision: 100% survival for kids with cancer.

Continued fundraising by Lions Clubs is vital to help the Foundation take on new projects and keep this important work moving.

This September, let's stand behind the researchers working towards a future where childhood cancer is no longer a life-threatening diagnosis.

Every dollar raised can help give researchers the opportunity to find better treatments, better outcomes and, ultimately, a cure.

📸 Some fantastic moments from the Lions ANZI Pacific Forum in Auckland! 💙🦁

For those who may not know, the ANZI Pacific Forum brings Lions together from across Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and the Pacific Islands for an extraordinary gathering of international fellowship, leadership development and a shared commitment to service.

With Lions joining from across our region, the forum was a fantastic opportunity to exchange innovative ideas, learn from inspiring keynote speakers, and reignite our collective passion for service.

Most importantly, gatherings like this help Lions share ideas and best practice across borders, strengthening the way we support our communities and creating new opportunities to make an even greater impact.

A huge thank you to the organising committee and every Lion who travelled near and far to make this event such a resounding success. Together, we’re stronger, better connected and ready to keep serving our communities. 💙🦁

🐾This National Dog Day, we’re celebrating some very special dogs who do more than bring joy into our lives. They can help change them. ❤️

Through Lions Assistance Dogs, highly trained assistance dogs are provided free of charge to Australians with disability and other needs, helping people live with greater independence, confidence and connection.

Just like Dougal 🐶, a beautiful Border Terrier who is already thriving in the Lions Assistance Dogs Puppy Program.

From those first puppy steps to becoming a life-changing working dog, every stage of the journey takes patience, dedication and plenty of love.

And behind every Assistance Dog is a team of people helping make that journey possible.

🐾 This National Dog Day, help us celebrate Dougal and all the incredible dogs, Puppy Carers, trainers and supporters who make this life-changing work possible.

🌟 Happy International Youth Day! 🌟

Today we celebrate the incredible energy, passion and leadership of young people making a difference in their communities.

At Lions Australia, we’re proud to support the next generation of leaders through Leos Clubs, where young people develop skills, build friendships and create meaningful change through service. 💙💛

Avinash, our 2026 Leo of the Year, is an inspiring example of what young leaders can achieve.

Thank you to all our Leos for the impact you make every day. Your ideas, energy and passion are helping shape the future of service.

Keep leading, keep serving and keep inspiring! 🌍✨
