A New Chapter in Accessibility at the Ipswich Men’s Shed
We’re proud to share that the Ipswich Men’s Shed has received a generous grant from the Australian Men’s Shed Association NSDP Program. This funding has enabled us to install a talk-to-text system, designed to support two of our members who are profoundly deaf and non-verbal.
How It Works
The system converts spoken words into real-time text, displayed clearly on a large TV screen. This allows our deaf and hard-of-hearing members to fully participate in conversations, presentations, and Shed activities—fostering inclusion, dignity, and connection.
Wider Impact
Beyond its primary purpose, this technology will benefit all members who experience hearing loss, making our Shed a more accessible and welcoming space for everyone.
