A LOUD ALARM will be emitted from EVERY mobile phone in Australia on Mon 27th July by AusAlert.
This moment of 10 seconds, when the very LOUD alarm is occurring could cause distress in many humans and living beings.
AusAlert, Australia's new emergency warning system will sound an alarm nationwide. Every mobile phone in Australia will sound a LOUD ALARM on Monday 27 July.
Australian Capital Territory – 2pm AEST
New South Wales – 2pm AEST
Queensland – 2pm AEST
Tasmania – 2pm AEST
Victoria – 2pm AEST
Northern Territory – 1.30pm ACST
South Australia (including Broken Hill) – 1.30pm ACST
Western Australia – 12pm AWST
The sound: your phone will emit a loud, siren-like sound and vibrate for about 10 seconds.
It will override your phone's settings: because this test uses a "Critical Alert" tier, it will completely override your phone's silent, do not disturb, or volume settings.
The message: the screen will clearly display a test message noting that no action is required.
You can turned the AusAlert off on you iPhone: settings > notifications > scroll to very bottom and toggle off. For Samsung: notifications > advanced settings > click on wireless emergency contact.
