Gemma and Nathan finally caught up with Neil Adams today to present him with the prestigious KB Award for Most Improved Inflatable Rescue Boat Driver for the 2025/26 season.
Neil threw himself into IRB driving with enthusiasm, determination, and only the occasional complete loss of control. Teaming up with fellow Patrol 5 member, fellow Smackeral, and apparent co-conspirator Noel Simmonds, the pair quickly made a name for themselves on the water.
In fact, their efforts were so memorable that they took home the coveted MSLSC Costa Concordia Award for the season's most spectacular rollover. It's an achievement not many strive for, but these two managed it with style.
Both Neil and Noel are now making the move from Patrol 5 to Patrol 1, where Neil will be stepping up as Patrol Captain, which we're assured is a perfectly sensible decision.
Neil, we're absolutely stoked you joined us at Merewether. From enthusiastic IRB driver to award winner, boat roller, and now Patrol Captain, you've certainly packed a lot into a short time. We're chuffed to have you on the team and can't thank you enough for everything you do around the club.
