Open to everyone, our free clinic offers guidance on a range of legal issues from Newcastle Legal Centre lawyers alongside our law students.

The clinic is held at Merewether SLSC every Wednesday from 27 May until 1 July from 9.30am – 2.30pm, no bookings needed!

🌟 Volunteer of the Year (Laurie March Award) 2025/2026 🌟

Merewether Surf Life Saving Club is proud to announce that Jamie Paras has been awarded the prestigious Volunteer of the Year (Laurie March Award) for the 2025/2026 season.

Jamie has been an integral part of MSLSC, serving as Club Secretary for the past 10 years and as a member of the Executive Committee.

His dedication behind the scenes has been instrumental in ensuring the smooth and successful operation of our Club, with responsibilities including managing communications, coordinating meetings, and maintaining vital records.

In addition to his role as Secretary, Jamie also gives his time on the front line as Patrol Captain of Patrol 1, demonstrating his commitment not only in administration but also in active lifesaving service.

This season, Jamie was also recognised with his National Service Award for 10 years of service to Surf Life Saving — a testament to his long-standing commitment and passion.

Jamie is a loyal, dedicated, and highly respected member whose contributions have been widely acknowledged across Merewether SLSC and Hunter Surf Life Saving. His tireless efforts and unwavering support truly embody the spirit of volunteering.

Merewether Surf Life Saving Club is proud to announce that **Nathan Bird** has been awarded **Patrol Person of the Year for the 2025/2026 season**.

Nathan currently serves as our **IRB Captain**, bringing exceptional leadership, skill, and dedication to this critical role. Since transferring to MSLSC in 2024, Nathan has shared his extensive experience from Queensland surf clubs, making an immediate and lasting impact across our organisation.

Throughout the season, Nathan has been instrumental in **developing and promoting IRB skills and qualifications**, not only within MSLSC but also by supporting our fellow Surf Life Saving Clubs. His commitment has strengthened our collective capability as **first responders**, ensuring we can deliver effective assistance and support to our emergency services when it matters most.

Nathan’s passion, professionalism, and willingness to support others embody the true spirit of Surf Life Saving.

We are proud to announce that **Patrolling Member Brendan Kiley** has been awarded **Club Member of the Year 2025/2026**! 🏆

Brendan has been a dedicated member of MSLSC since 2019, consistently demonstrating outstanding commitment to our Club and community.

In addition to his patrol duties, Brendan volunteers his time as a **Sports Coach for our Juniors/Nippers Team**, helping to develop the next generation of lifesavers. His passion, teamwork, and positive attitude truly make a difference.

🚩❌DUE TO BAD WEATHER FORECAST- SLSNSW HAS POSTPONED THIS EVENT- TBA. ❌❌

Did you know the NSW Board Riding Champs are happening in May? Held at Merewether Beach in the Hunter, from 30-31 May, the Championship event will see surfers in both the short and longboard from juniors to grand masters compete to become the 2026 State Champ.
