Children First Foundation facilitates life-changing and life-saving surgery for disadvantaged children from developing countries. We picture a world where every child can access excellent medical care wherever they live. The children who come to Australia for their surgery live at our Retreat in rural Victoria, where they are cared for by our amazing team of staff and volunteers. Over the past 22 years, the Foundation has enabled over 400 disadvantaged children from 32 developing countries to receive the surgery and care they need to change their lives. Now back home, they are healthy and happy, with all their hopes and dreams before them. We receive no government funding and rely on the generosity of donors.

Thanks to your support, Lily travelled from Vanuatu to Australia for life-changing surgical and orthotic care and learned to walk for the very first time. She's now back home, with a future of possibilities ahead of her ✨

Wonderful Lily has returned home to Vanuatu 💙

It has been such a special journey for Lily and her mum, Julie, who has been by her side every step of the way (literally!). From surgery and physio to first steps and new adventures, it’s been a privilege to witness Lily’s progress ✨

After a long day of travel, Lily and Julie were warmly welcomed home by our wonderful in-country partner, Madlen. There’s nothing quite like seeing a familiar face at the end of a journey 🩵

Recovery has been a slow and steady journey for Amizia 💙

After her treatment, Amizia spent several days resting under the close care of her medical team as they monitored her breathing and recovery. It's been a big experience for such a young girl, requiring plenty of patience, rest and gentle care.

Thankfully, she hasn't faced it alone. Emeliano, her father, has been by her side throughout, and we're delighted to see glimpses of her bright smile returning a little more each day ✨

Amizia was admitted to hospital ahead of her procedure and greeted the day with her trademark energy and positivity 💙

After careful assessment, her medical team proceeded with electrosclerotherapy, a treatment designed to gradually reduce the growth on her neck over the coming months. As an expected part of the process, Amizia will spend a few days in the hospital after the procedure while doctors closely monitor her recovery and support her breathing.

While there is still a journey ahead, this is an important step forward in Amizia's care and future ✨

For now, we're so proud of how bravely she has approached every part of this experience. Please join us in wishing Amizia a smooth recovery 💙

The bandages are off for Lis, and what a moment it is 💙✨

With her new fingers and thumbs, Lis is one step closer to holding a pencil and drawing the flowers and houses she has imagined for so long.

A little girl, a hopeful father, and a future full of possibility ✨

As you would have seen Amizia has safely arrived in Australia from Timor-Leste for specialist treatment that her family once thought was out of reach.

Her father, Emeliano, shared: My family appreciates everything that has been done. We felt very happy because after the operation Amizia can have a normal life. We never expected this was actually going to happen, but it is. Thank you for that "

Do you remember little Yembu from PNG, who was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate? 💙

After being referred to us earlier this year, and thanks to your generous support, Yembu was able to receive surgery to repair his cleft lip at just six months old.

It was the first time the local surgical team had performed a procedure on such a young patient. Since then, Yembu has also undergone surgery to repair his cleft palate and the results have been wonderful.

Now back home with his family, Yembu is resting, recovering and thriving ✨

Just look at how much he has grown, and how beautifully he has healed.

Thank you for helping make moments like these possible. Because of your support, children like Yembu can access the care they need, closer to home.

We’re getting to know Amizia, and her beautiful energy is already filling us with so much joy ✨

Amizia enjoyed some playtime at before heading in for her first MRI scan. Despite having to fast for quite some time beforehand, she did incredibly well throughout the experience.

Thankfully afterwards, her father Emiliano was ready with some food and plenty of love 💙

The next step is for the healthcare team to review the results and determine the safest and most effective treatment plan for Amizia’s cystic hygroma on her neck. Follow along to see as her journey unfolds.
