Children First Foundation facilitates life-changing and life-saving surgery for disadvantaged children from developing countries. We picture a world where every child can access excellent medical care wherever they live. The children who come to Australia for their surgery live at our Retreat in rural Victoria, where they are cared for by our amazing team of staff and volunteers. Over the past 22

years, the Foundation has enabled over 400 disadvantaged children from 32 developing countries to receive the surgery and care they need to change their lives. Now back home, they are healthy and happy, with all their hopes and dreams before them. We receive no government funding and rely on the generosity of donors.

Dung approached surgery day with determination and a smile, eager to complete her final checks and change into her gown—signature pink Crocs included 💙✨

During surgery, her medical team worked to reconstruct parts of her nose and cheekbones, helping improve the shape and structure of her skull. While recovery will bring some swelling and discomfort, the team was very pleased with the outcome, so was Lan when she was reunited with Dung after surgery.

Now comes a time for rest, healing and gentle recovery. Thank you for helping make this life-changing care possible for Dung 💙

💙 Feel Good Friday with Children First Foundation 💙

Last month, a volunteer surgical team from Australia and New Zealand worked alongside local clinicians in Samoa's Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital.

They provided life-changing surgery to local children while also mentoring and sharing skills with local healthcare professionals—helping build Samoa's long-term surgical capacity.

We've now shared a broader update on the mission on our website, where you'll meet some of the incredible children whose lives are being changed through this work, including Hong who you’ve met already, and many others.

Dung is heading into her appointments with bright confidence and anticipation 💙

From clinical photography to ophthalmology appointments, Dung is beginning the first stage of her pre-operative care, helping her medical team build a complete picture of her health ahead of surgery.

This phase of the journey is an important one. It can also be busy and overwhelming at times, which is why we're so grateful for the staff and volunteers who help support children and their families every step of the way, including Dung and her mum, Lan ✨

Recently, some of our incredible South Australian volunteers spent time at Ronald McDonald House Adelaide, preparing and serving meals for families staying far from home while their children receive medical care, including Dung and her mum Lan who just arrived from Vietnam 💙

Through the Meals from the Heart program, our volunteers helped create warm, nourishing meals that provide comfort and one less thing for families to worry about after long days at the hospital.

We're grateful to for the vital support and welcoming environment they provide to families travelling for treatment, and to our dedicated Children First volunteers who generously give their time to support others during challenging moments ✨

💙 Feel Good Friday with Children First Foundation 💙

When Lilyrose arrived in Australia, she was facing major surgery. But throughout her journey, she met every appointment with courage, curiosity and a beautiful smile.

Today, she is back home in Vanuatu with her mum Janeth, her happiness is shining brightly, and her scar healing incredibly well.

Lilyrose’s journey is a powerful reminder of what can happen when compassionate supporters come together to help a child access life-changing healthcare.

Thank you for helping give Lilyrose the healthy future she deserves, and thank you to Ronald McDonald House South & Central Australia for giving her and Janeth a home away from home 🏠 Her smile says everything: thank you! ✨💙
