It was a great pleasure to talk about Australian Change Makers with an energetic room of for the Women in Business Wagga Wagga annual event last night. From pilot Deborah Lawrie who won her discrimination case against Ansett in 1979 to Julie Dolan, the first captain of the Matildas, there are many unsung heroes in the Australian journey to gender equality, including in our regions.

You might have heard a lot of talk about international humanitarian law, but what does it mean?

International humanitarian law (IHL) is a set of international rules that state what can and cannot be done during armed conflict. They aim to maintain some humanity in the darkest of times.

Australian Red Cross plays a key role in promoting these rules to ensure all lives are protected - no matter the side or situation.

The rules of war ban torture, protect civilians, ensure detainees are treated humanely, and require parties to protect and respect healthcare workers.

All parties to armed conflict must know and follow IHL. Because even in war, humanity matters.

🎭✨ I had an energising two days meeting with the Creative Workplaces Council and team. We’re making great progress in identifying the best ways to ensure that work in the creative sector is safe, fair, and respectful for everyone.

A special thank you to Frances Rings and Louise Ingram, Co-CEOs of Bangarra Dance Theatre, for the warm welcome and inspiring tour. Their leadership and storytelling through dance left a lasting impact.

We were also truly inspired by the powerful advocacy of Australian Women in Music, who continue to push for gender equality across the industry. 👏🎶

It was great to see Minister Tony Burke deliver a speech in Parliament celebrating Australia’s success at the Venice Biennale a proud moment for our creative community.

And a big shoutout to the amazing Creative Australia staff who happily rose to the challenge of crowding into a selfie with the Council what a moment! 📸💥
