Is your older computer still working, but feeling a little slow? Having trouble with software? Or wondering whether you can give your trusty device a new lease on life rather than replacing it?

Come along to Maitland Repair Cafe and have a chat with our volunteers! We can offer advice and guidance on:

🖥️ Extending the life of older computers – learn some simple ways to keep your existing computer useful for longer.

💡 Solving simple software problems – having an issue with your computer or phone? We may be able to help you understand and overcome common software problems.

🐧 Exploring open-source options – find out how you might convert an older computer to an open-source operating system and breathe new life into it.

📱 Phone help – advice on simple software issues and getting more out of the device you already have.

♻️ Repair, reuse and reduce e-waste – sometimes the best solution isn't buying something new!

🚫 Please note: We do not repair cracked, broken or damaged screens on computers, phones or other devices.

Bring your questions, your device and your curiosity! Our aim is to help you keep your technology working for longer and share practical knowledge with our community.

Another item saved from the landfill! ♻

Rod stopped by our last event with a piano stool in need of some TLC. In just 20 minutes, Bill was able to repair the underside and add extra supports to make the stool safe again 🔨

Have you ever thought about what the environment will look like in the future?

Join Maitland City Council for the screening of the film 2040!

An Australian documentary, 2040 explores what the future could look like if we embraced the best solutions currently available to improve the planet.

The film is motivated by director Damon Gameau's 4-year-old daughter and his concern for the planet she would inherit. It follows his global journey to meet innovators and change makers working to improve the health of our planet.

The film explores themes of climate, economics, technology, civil society, agriculture and sustainability.

The Repair Cafe is happening again in Maitland this morning. This is our third event and we hope to see you today, despite the overcast skies.

Come along with your item for repair to the Guide Hall at St Andrew St Maitland between 10 and 1 pm We will have a licenced electrician at today’s event for those small items that need electrical repairs. We also will offer repairs to clothing, timber items, electronics, bikes and other household items.
