🏉 STATE OF ORIGIN 🏉

There may be a traitor amongst us...

But at the Hub, we're all about connection, community and having a laugh together. Sometimes that's through support services, a coffee and a chat... and sometimes it's through a healthy dose of State of Origin banter between colleagues 😄

Whether you're Blue or Maroon, sport has a unique way of bringing people together, creating conversations and strengthening community.

Tonight, our office is divided, friendships will be tested, and the banter is already in full swing!

Congratulations to Ken Fayle OAM on this well-deserved recognition.

Ken has dedicated countless years to supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families, always working behind the scenes to ensure their service and sacrifice are remembered and respected.

Many in our local veteran community know Ken not only for his tireless advocacy, but also for his generosity, wisdom and unwavering commitment to others. He has been a long-time supporter of the Hunter Veteran & Family Hub and someone we have been fortunate to work closely alongside over the years.

On a personal note, I am grateful for Ken's friendship, support and guidance. His passion for helping others and strengthening our veteran community continues to inspire those around him.

Congratulations, Ken, on receiving the Medal of the Order of Australia. It is a fitting recognition for a lifetime of service to veterans and their families.

FREE MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING

Gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to support veterans experiencing mental health problems or crises through free Mental Health First Aid training.

The Hunter Valley District Council of RSL NSW have secured two additional courses for the Hunter Region, hosted in Muswellbrook and Branxton.

The veteran community, including ex-service organisations, veterans, families, caregivers and friends, play an important role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of veterans. These groups may be the first point of contact for a veteran who is experiencing mental health problems, distress or suicidal ideation. Would you know how to support a veteran experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis?

Meet Jodie 👋

Jodie joined the Hunter Veteran & Family Hub team in February, just weeks before we opened our doors, and it’s hard to imagine the Hub without her now.

As a veteran spouse and mum of current serving members, Jodie brings both lived experience and a genuine passion for supporting veterans and their families. Since joining the team, she has made a real difference in the lives of many of the people who visit our Hub.

On a personal note, Jodie is an absolute pleasure to work alongside. She’s bright, friendly, always willing to lend a hand, and approaches everything with a “can do” attitude. Her warmth and compassion shine through in every interaction.

Come in and say hello to Jodie and the rest of the team, we’d love to meet you.
