This afternoon, our Pure Start crew had an awesome time in the hub, learning new skills, using technology and working on their customer service skills that will make a real difference in their everyday lives and workforce!
๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒโ๐ ๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฑ:
๐ ๐ง๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐: Our crew is now emerging and learning vital cash handling skills, including how to use the register, tap to pay wave payments.
๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐: They practiced how to interact with customers, make small talk, and warmly welcome them as they entered the store. They also engaged in mock interactions with each other, providing a safe space to refine their skills. Lots of laughs were had.
๐ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐: Our crew was able to build skills in packaging merchandise, which included labeling products and learning how to bag items with care.
These skills are not just about technology they empower individuals with disabilities to gain confidence and independence. Tomorrow, they'll have the chance to practice these skills in a real life supported setting whilst selling and showcasing their beautiful handcrafted candles at our very first community event!

We will be selling our candles on Sunday, April 5th, 9 AM โ 1 PM at the Maitland Showground for the Maitland Community Markets. Come say hi to our team! As a not-for-profit, all proceeds go straight back into this initiative.
