University of the Third Age - U3A Mackay Mackay's own University of the Third Age - part of a world-wide movement that began in France in 1973

What is the Third Age - it is that time of life when the duties of full time work and of raising a family are over, which for most of us comes usually at about then 50's and 60's, leaving time and energies for us again to follow our own interests and needs. We find we'd like to resume activities for which we had not had time. Or there is something we have always fancied trying, perhaps an academic study, an artistic pursuit, a physical exercise or a game.

Our gardeners had an entertaining time at Hector Keioskie’s home recently.
Convenor Paul tells us:

A very BIG thank you to Hector for accommodating us at
short notice. He entertained us with a challenge!- to identify the 21 herbs in his garden! Well done Lyn D. (18 correct)

Good Day u3a Diners

Well crocodile was a first for me ,must cross it off my bucket list .A great turn out yesterday at South Suburban Bowls Club
Our u3a committee well presented also.Our own dining room as well .Welcome to the new diners.Hope to see you regularly.

Next month ,July 10 we shall be “out of town” at West Tigers Bowls Club .Walkerston.

We have eaten there many times, good food at reasonable prices with that famous smorgasbord

A large group of our members returned to the classroom
yesterday and attended a first aid for Seniors workshop.
Courses Coordinstor Iris Harvey reports that the course was very well attended and very informative.

Wrap With Love (Knit & Crochet)
6-week Pop-Up activity

Thursday 2nd July to Thursday 6th August

11:30am – 1pm

Venue: Café – Ground floor, Building 3, CQU Sydney Street Campus (free parking available behind buildings, entrance via Wood Street)
U3A Mackay is partnering with Wrap With Love, a charity run entirely by volunteers, that supplies wraps and quilts for distribution to needy people and those suffering the effects of cold and trauma in Australia and worldwide.

Our Task: Knit or crochet 25cm squares, to be sent to Wrap With Love, for stitching together.

· All patterns are provided

· Some hooks/needles and wool are provided, but please bring what you have

· The café is open for the duration of the session
