Mackay Branch of NPQ-SGAP. We promote & propagate native plants and conduct monthly meetings, propagation mornings, plant sales, planting bees etc.

🌱 You can find us at the Food Forest Fest today, alongside other stallholders! Buy some native plants from us, have a look around, and enjoy the live music. 😊 Plant list below.

Time: 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Location: Mackay Community Garden, 3 Sarah Street, West Mackay. Also access via the car park at the very end of Bridge Road, near the river fishing pier.

We’re at the Orchid Extravaganza at Queens Park!
Selling native plants (including ground orchids ‘Phaius australis’) until 2:00pm today!

Come find us, buy some native plants for your backyard to bring colour, birds and butterflies to your garden, and learn about the benefits of membership with us 🙂

We will be at the Orchid Extravaganza bright and early tomorrow morning selling a range of native plants including a limited number of Phaius australis, Swamp Orchid and Hoya species.

The event will be held at the Ken Burgess Orchid House within Queens Park, between 8am to 2pm.

Don’t forget to bring a box or a bag for buying your special plants.

🌱Landscape Architect, Lawrie Smith will present a slide presentation on ‘Gardens, Landscapes and Celebrities.’
🌱A show and tell session of native plants - bring in something native from your garden.
🌱Plant raffle
🌱Cup of tea and supper to end the evening.

🍃🌱 This Thursday, August 6th at 7:30pm, the August Branch Meeting will take place in the meeting room at the Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens situated behind the visitor centre.

All members and guests are invited to attend.

Following a brief discussion of business, we will have a presentation ‘Native Bees in your Backyard’ by Katrina Corry. We will then have a show-and-tell or show-and-ask session, where members are invited to share native plants, fruits, and flowers from their gardens.

The meeting will conclude with a plant raffle.

You can also join online with video conference via Microsoft Teams - post a comment asking for the link and we’ll get it to you.

We look forward to see you there.

FYI, Mackay Conservation Group will hold a 'Mangroves film night' to celebrate World Mangrove Day. There'll be a screening of the documentary, artist showing their wares, a raffle, a short talk about a new book about the reef, and more.
