Always happy to support with Hazard Reduction burns in our local area 🔥🚒 last night's training!

Today shaped up to be a tough one and it delivered! 💨🔥 We were paged to assist Seven Mile Beach Fire Brigade along with Cambridge Fire Brigade - Tasmania at the new golf course end of Pittwater Road. Weather conditions and access to the fire were against us, with the Hobart airport experiencing gusts of wind over 100km/h, there was little that could be done on the ground. Crews remained on scene to strengthen containment lines where they could access and protect any valuable assets 🚒 a very quick reminder to prepare yourself for the upcoming fire season! Snow tomorrow 🌨

Last night we ran a number of short structure fire scenarios around our local area 🔥 each scenario had its own complexities. These ranged from a shed fire on a five-acre property, finding water sources and dealing with power to multiple meters, to the narrow streets of Wateredge and Seamist Court, running hose effectively and efficiently, locating appropriate water sources and communication 🚒

Last night we travelled to the TFS training complex at Cambridge to utilise the yard and different training props 🚒

The focus for the night was initial response and crew taskings and communication between crews and OIC's 🔥

It may be the middle of winter but the brigade has been keeping busy with a range of training scenarios happening each Wednesday night. Car fires, Road Crash Rescue incidents, structure fire fighting and a refresher on ladders and our working at heights kit have kept us busy 🚒🔥❄️

Congratulations to one of our own, Paul Baker AFSM, who was formally recognised at the Investiture Ceremony at Government House. This honour reflects Paul’s outstanding dedication and service to the Tasmania Fire Service and the Lauderdale community. We are incredibly proud of his commitment and the positive impact he continues to make. His friends and fellow volunteer fire fighters joined Paul and his family to celebrate this special occasion 🚒🔥

After a busy summer, we have had a slower start to Autumn! Our trucks have been in and out of Engineering with a few issues being repaired but we have continued to train each week. The nights are cooler but ground fuel is still very dry and fires are still burning well, as we discovered this afternoon being paged to assist Seven Mile Beach Fire Brigade and Cambridge Fire Brigade - Tasmania at a 🔥 in the pine forest at Seven Mile. Crews returned to station and another crewed jumped in the 4.1 to go and assist a local landowner with a hazard reduction burn this evening! 🚒
