Drop your empty (or near-empty) fragrance bottles off with us for recycling.

We can take plastic and glass bottles, including travel-sized and sample sizes. Please, don’t bring full or near-full bottles.

You can drop the bottles off with us each Saturday, 2-4pm at our current location, 1st Canterbury Scout Hall, 25 Shierlaw Avenue, Canterbury. We’ll be based there until 12 December, when we’ll close for our annual summer break.

Starting to get ready for Christmas?

Get gift bags from us rather than buying new ones! It’s a great way to reduce unnecessary consumption and cut unnecessary spending.

It also means these beautiful gift bags get reused rather than gathering dust somewhere or going straight to landfill.

There’s no charge for the bags. Just select one and let one of our volunteers (wearing name tags) know, so they can keep a note for our records.

With more people choosing gift bags for reuse, we’re also ready to start accepting gift bags again. So, if you have any in a good condition that you don’t need, please bring them to one of our collection sessions.

Just remember we’re not at our normal venue at the moment!

In the run-up to the end of the year, we’ll be at 1st Canterbury Scouts Hall, 25 Shierlaw Avenue, Canterbury. As always, our opening hours are 2-4pm each Saturday.

When we reopen at our temporary new home at 1st Canterbury Scouts' hall this Saturday, we will be collecting our full range of normal collection categories.

This is a one-page-summary of what we currently collect, both in terms of reuse and recycling. With reuse the items must please be in good condition, as they’ll be gifted to small businesses and not-for-profit organisations.

We only take items if we have somewhere to send them. So, please help us avoid wish-cycling and contamination by checking what we can and can’t take before adding something to a collection box.

There’s detailed info on each box and if you’re uncertain, please ask our helpful volunteers. You can identify them by their name tags.

See you at the 1st Canterbury Scout Hall, each Saturday, 2-4pm!

It’s been a big 4 years for our community. We started with half a dozen recycling categories and now have 35 categories plus lots of special collections.

In our first 12 months we collected about 500kg and in our last 12 months we collected 6 tonnes.

So, what we collected in our first year, we now collect on average each month.

It's also very pleasing to be able to say that the items we collect now are mainly for reuse. This is certainly a positive direction for sustainability.

We look forward to being able to continue this at our new, temporary venue, 1st Canterbury Scouts at 25 Shierlaw Avenue, Canterbury.

From 7 November to 12 December 2026 we will be at 4th Canterbury Scout Hall from 2-4pm each Saturday.

Just a reminder that we’re closed this Saturday, 31 October and then we’ll reopen at our new, temporary venue the week after.

Each Saturday from 7 November to 12 December, we’ll be at the 1st Canterbury Scouts’ hall from 2-4pm.

As always with a weekend linked to a public holiday, we'll be closed on 31 October for the Cup Weekend. When we reopen the week after, on 7 November, we'll be at 1st Canterbury Scout Hall, not 4th Kew Scout Hall.

From 7 November to 12 December we'll be open each Saturday, 2-4pm at 1st Canterbury Scout Hall, 25 Shierlaw Avenue, Canterbury. Aside from the venue change, everything else will be as normal.

Thank you 1st Canterbury Scouts for providing us with a home for the remainder of 2026!

For the rest of the year we’ll be located at the 1st Canterbury Scouts hall, while our normal venue is unavailable.

We’ll be closed on 31 October to give our volunteer team a break over the Cup Weekend. When we reopen on 7 November, it will be at 1st Canterbury Scout Hall.
