A truly magnificent day at our official Alphington Battery launch!

We were so glad to hear from Lily D'Ambrosio & Kat Theophanous MP this morning, thank you both for taking the time to attend and for your support over the years.

Thank you to all parties involved for making this a wonderful celebration of community, we could not be happier with the outcome.

Exciting scenes this morning as we watched our community battery be craned into place! Now time to make it pop with vinyl wrapping in beautiful original artwork.

We can’t wait to share our progress and achievements at our official launch this Saturday, 27th June.

That's right - the installation of the Alphington Community Battery is not far off!

Some exciting news from Village Power - we've officially launched our Community Art Project!

Village Power is inviting Expressions of Interest from local artists to create a large-scale artwork to be vinyl-wrapped around a new community battery in Alphington.

The Community Art Project aims to:

- Present the battery as modern, shared community infrastructure

- Reflect public ownership and participation

- Celebrate local climate action

- Connect the project to the people, place and culture of Alphington and Fairfield

So excited to get this project underway!

🌞 We're thrilled to take another step towards a greener future! 🌞
🔋 A new community battery is coming to Alphington, thanks to community group Village Power with funding from the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. A community battery can store excess rooftop solar generated electricity from across the community to be used at a later time. It will enable the community to use the stored electricity instead of importing it from the grid. 🔋

The announcement was attended by Mayor Julie Williams for Darebin, the Minister for Energy and Resources Lily D'Ambrosio MP, Member for Northcote Kat Theophanous MP and Councillors.

We thank the State Government and Village Power for supporting our goal of a sustainable shared future.
