Advance Diversity Services was delighted to support the We Are One Dinner, hosted by Business Chamber South, bringing together community and business leaders to celebrate multiculturalism, inclusion and community cohesion.

With a core mission of helping migrants and refugees settle, connect and belong in Australia, we were proud to join the Hon. Chris Minns, Premier of NSW, alongside community and business leaders for an evening celebrating the incredible diversity of our communities.

Our Chairperson Ruth Fyle, Secretary Dr Rifaat Hanna, CEO Antoinette Chow and ADS staff were pleased to be part of this special occasion.

💄 TAFE Beauty Course – Session 3: Bridal Makeup ✨

Our third session of the TAFE Beauty Course, and participants had the opportunity to explore the beautiful world of Bridal Makeup! 👰‍♀️

From creating a flawless base to learning techniques for a polished and elegant bridal look, participants developed their makeup skills while putting their creativity into practice.

It was wonderful to see everyone learning, practising and building their confidence throughout the session! 💕👏

A big thank you to our TAFE to provide this learning opportunity and everyone who participated for making another session so enjoyable and inspiring. 🌟

🌸 A blooming wonderful day out! 🌸

Our Italian social group from the Multicultural Day Centre recently took a trip to the Auburn Botanic Gardens for the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival.

Not only did everyone love walking beneath the stunning pink blossoms, but they also enjoyed exploring the rest of the gardens - and admiring some of the fabulous cherry-blossom-themed outfits worn by other visitors! It was a picture-perfect day full of laughter, fresh air, and great company.

Hearing the room erupt into laughter over a game of el teléfono roto (the telephone game) was one of the highlights of our week! Our Spanish-speaking group at the Multicultural Day Centre had absolute fun watching simple phrases transform into hilarious mix-ups by the end of the line.

Moments like these remind us that staying connected, sharing smiles, and keeping the brain active are best done together.

On Friday 28 August, ADS conducted an information session for Cantonese speaking migrants on Savings Finder. The session was presented by Harry Ramani, Support Service Specialist at Service NSW, who talked about rebates and savings offered by the NSW Government to help local residents ease the cost of living.

Participants learned that rebates and savings are available for driving, transport, energy and water, health, seniors, recreation, and more. They also expressed that they would make an appointment to see Harry for assistance in applying for relevant rebates. Our Mandarin group recently made the most of the sunny weather with a walk at Lambeth Reserve. The park's smooth, accessible pathways make it a fantastic option for members using walking sticks or walkers. The highlight of the trip? Meeting a friendly local fisherman who showed off his incredible morning catch!

The ADS-PHN project initiative delivered a friendly and engaging workshop on Emotional Wellbeing and Relationship Stability During the Settlement Journey.

The session supported 32 Palestinian and Lebanese new arrivals as they navigated the emotional, social and cultural challenges of settling into a new country and community. Participants gained practical strategies to manage settlement-related stress, maintain emotional wellbeing, adapt to cultural and lifestyle changes, and build supportive community connections.

The workshop provided a welcoming environment for sharing experiences, developing practical insights and exploring ways to strengthen personal and family wellbeing throughout the settlement journey.

💜 Wear It Purple Day & Farewell Celebration at ADS Hurstville 💜

Last Friday, our ADS Hurstville team came together to celebrate Wear It Purple Day! 💜🏳️‍🌈

It was a wonderful opportunity to show our support for LGBTQIA+ young people and reaffirm our commitment to creating a community where everyone feels safe, respected, included and celebrated for who they are. 🌈✨

We also took the opportunity to celebrate and say a heartfelt farewell to Petiola. Wishing Peti all the very best for the next chapter!
