Gosford - Central Coast Connections Meeting

We have had some queries regarding the location of the Central Coast Connections Meeting and apologise for the delay in confirming the suburb. This in person meeting will be held in Gosford.

This session is free to attend and open to anyone with an adoption experience.

When: Saturday June 27th
Time: 1.30pm - 3.30pm
Cost: FREE
Venue: Central Coast - Gosford, full address will be supplied upon RSVP.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Please RSVP by 24th June to attend via email: [email protected] or Ph: 02 9504 6788

You are welcome to come along with a support person, loved one or friend if that will assist you in attending.

We know that for many, coming together in person with others who have an adoption experience can be incredibly validating. Hearing others share their own personal journey with adoption can be of great benefit in feeling less isolated in your own experience.
This is an opportunity to connect with others; hear from the PARC team and ask any questions you may have about adoption.

We will guide an informal discussion on areas that interest you.
Topics recently discussed at our Connections meetings include the pros & cons of family search via DNA, adding a father's details to an original birth certificate, connecting with family, and identity, among other things.

We are open to any and all questions you may have and welcome you sending questions through prior to the meeting if there is a question that is important for you to have addressed on the day.
We welcome you joining us for an afternoon of discussion and connection.

Dare to Dream - Coaching and Breathwork Program
facilitated by Nicky Hammond

If you are a person affected by forced adoption and live in NSW, you are invited to apply for a fully funded group program beginning mid-June 2026.

This trauma informed program has been thoughtfully designed to provide a safe, respectful, and supportive space. It offers practical tools to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, manage stress, and navigate life with greater clarity and steadiness.

You’ll be guided through simple, accessible approaches, including breathing practices and guided conversations. There is no expectation to share beyond what feels comfortable and participants are welcome to engage at their own pace.

The program also offers an opportunity to connect with others who have lived experience of forced adoption, in a setting that values understanding, compassion, and privacy.

Nicky Hammond is an intercountry adoptee with lived experience of adoption, alongside many years of professional experience working within adoption and community spaces.

Program details:

Begins mid-June 2026 (exact date to be confirmed)
Cost: FREE
Weekly online sessions across 8 weeks
Includes an initial one-hour 1:1 session
Concludes with an optional in-person gathering in Sydney, including a facilitated discussion, gentle breathwork session, and shared social time
If this feels like something you may benefit from, you are warmly invited to apply:

Another story about the illegal practices in intercountry adoption, that separated mothers and their children. This story focuses on Kyle Adler who discovered he was stolen as a baby in Chile and given to an American couple. At 36 he has found and reconnected with his mother.

It is a time of reckoning in the intercountry adoption landscape globally as more and more horrific stories come to light about the illegal, immoral and illicit practices that separated children from their families, their country, language and culture.

Kyle Adler 36, who was stolen from his Chilean mother as a baby and illegally adopted in the US, traveled to Chile earlier this year to reunite with his birth family for the first time in 35 years

An ABC article published today speaks to the shock that can come from doing a DNA test through one of the commercially available websites when an unexpected result is received.

The post adoption services around the country are receiving an increasing number of calls from those finding out about their adoption status for the first time, later in life, following one of these DNA tests which can throw their whole world up in the air.

"unexpected DNA discoveries can destabilise identity and disrupt an individual's life narrative.

"It is normal to also experience feelings of grief, anger, betrayal, sadness and curiosity."

Direct-to-consumer genetic testing kits are often given as gifts or purchased "as a bit of fun", which means people often aren't prepared to discover unexpected parents, siblings and other relatives.

PARC facilitates 2 separate online groups each month for adults who are adopted. These are our Adoption, Belonging and Connection (ABC) groups and each month a different theme is explored.

The group offers an opportunity to connect with others who are adopted, share your experiences together and to feel less isolated in your experience of adoption with others who 'get it.'

The groups are facilitated by PARC Counsellors and open to anyone living in NSW or who's adoption was finalised in NSW.

The Tuesday day group runs on the 1st Tuesday of every month, from 2pm - 3.30pm

The Thursday evening group runs on the 1st Thursday of the month, from 6.30pm - 8pm

If this is of interest to you please reach out to the PARC team to learn more and register to attend [email protected] or Ph: 9504 6788
