☕️ This morning’s Shoot the Sh Coffee Catch Up was a smaller group, but the conversations were incredibly valuable. Intimate sessions often create the space for deeper insights and genuine connection.

💬 Our members shared their journeys transitioning from being employees to becoming self‑employed, including the challenges, the wins and the lessons learned along the way.

📘 We also talked about how much support Service NSW offers small businesses, especially when navigating government programs and opportunities. It is a resource worth tapping into.

🤝 Our next Coffee Catch Up is in August and we are currently looking for a local café interested in hosting. If you would like to express your interest, please send us a DM.

From sunshine to indoor inspiration — here’s what we’re loving in our local community
Last weekend’s sunshine had the BCS team out enjoying our beautiful parks, beaches and cafés across Bayside and Georges River. Even with the cooler change this week, there is still plenty happening locally, especially indoors.

If you are looking for something to explore Saturday you could start here...(some require bookings)
+ No Worries Writing Workshop 10am to 12pm, Rockdale Library
+ Woven from a Hundred Flowers, Hurstville Museum and Gallery. A vibrant Nepali art exhibition
+ Media Lab: Podcast Masterclass 12pm to 4pm, Hurstville Library. A hands‑on workshop for anyone ready to bring a podcast idea to life

Our local libraries, galleries and small businesses work hard to create welcoming spaces for everyone. Let’s keep supporting them, staying connected and celebrating everything our community has to offer.

Business Chamber South was proud to attend the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal Business Breakfast at Club Central Hurstville this morning.

The Red Shield Appeal is the Salvation Army’s major annual fundraising campaign, supporting the essential frontline services that help Australians facing hardship. Every 17 seconds, the Salvos assist someone in need — providing emergency accommodation, food and essentials, financial support, and safe refuge for people escaping domestic and family violence.

Today’s event brought together local business, government and community leaders to stand behind this vital work. With cost‑of‑living pressures continuing to impact families across our region, the support provided through the Red Shield Appeal has never been more important.

We’re grateful to the Salvation Army for their unwavering commitment to our community, and to Club Central Hurstville for hosting such a meaningful event.

If you’re able, please consider supporting the Red Shield Appeal and helping the Salvos continue their life‑changing work.

Business Chamber South was proud to attend the 2026 SSMRF Annual Dinner in support of vital medical research across our local hospitals.
Our President Tony Baddour and Vice President Tania Katsanis joined researchers, clinicians, community leaders and supporters to celebrate the impact of research in dementia, cancer, women’s health, immunotherapy and more.
Events like this highlight the strength of collaboration across Southern Sydney, where business, community and healthcare come together to improve outcomes for patients and families at St George and Sutherland Hospitals.
Congratulations to all SSMRF Research Grant Recipients, and thank you to the speakers, performers, sponsors and guests who made the evening so meaningful. We’re proud to support organisations driving life changing research in our region.

STORIES ON PARADE brought Carlton to life through art, history and community.
When creativity and local stories come together, people connect in powerful ways. That sense of belonging is exactly what this project sparked!

Proud that Business Chamber South could be part of it. Congratulations to Bayside Council and the NSW Government’s Community Improvement Districts Pilot for championing such meaningful local work.
