Shopfront Arts Co-Op

Shopfront Arts Co-Op Shopfront Arts Co-op. The home of youth arts. Shopfront stands as Sydney’s only cross-art form organisation led by and dedicated to the artistry of Young People.

For over four decades, Shopfront has amplified the voices of Young People. Supported by practising, professional artists, our Young People make bold and ambitious works of creative expression. We are an inclusive community of artists sharing a common goal of making great art (and having a lot of fun along the way).

As an artist, “salesman” isn’t in your job title — but often times, you’re expected to just “figure out” funding.

So, we’re holding a FREE two-hour workshop THIS THURSDAY to help you with exactly that.

Artist as Fundraiser is a practical masterclass for artists, producers and collectives looking to build confidence and real skills around fundraising.

We’ll cover:
– building your case for support
– mapping your network and finding the right people
– making the ask
– planning a donations campaign that actually works

Facilitated by Michelle Boyle (Creative Australia), with 20+ years experience in arts fundraising and partnerships.

“The feeling you get when walking through the doors — being instantly met with wide smiles and a sense of warmth.” – Young Person

Some things haven't changed at Shopfront. After 50 years, we're continuing to open the door to creativity, connection and confidence for Young People.

To celebrate Shopfront's 50th Birthday, we're raising $50,000 to fund 200 scholarships for the future. By making a tax-deductible donation to Shopfront by 30 June, you can give a Young Person the chance to experience a full term of fun, friendship, and fearless artmaking.

Today marked Sophie’s final Outside the Lines as Young Leader.

To send her off, the Young People held a very official and extremely serious inauguration ceremony — Kiah was sworn in as president, and Sophie gracefully transitioned into the highly prestigious role of both “old leader” and vice president.

Sophie has been at Shopfront for basically forever. She’s been a Young Person in workshops, facilitator (AND one of the first facilitators for new Young Leader Liv!!!), and most recently was Young Leader.

Across all of these eras, Sophie has always been exactly what Shopfront is about — listening properly, meeting people where they’re at, committing to the bit, and making space for everyone to show up as themselves.

HOWEVER!!! This is not the end of Sophie!! She’ll still be at Shopfront in the office AND directing Junior Ensemble. Exciting stuff.

Sophie, thank you for:
– being here for so long
– doing pretty every possible role
– and helping make Shopfront what it is

We love you!!!

INTRODUCING: Q is for... Quack 🔍

In a smog-choked city, Benedict E. Quigley: Private Duck Detective waddles in—broke, burnt out, and on strike. What follows is a chaotic descent into a bureaucratic afterlife where nothing works, no one’s helpful, and Quigley’s detective skills are… questionable at best.

Blending handcrafted puppetry with scale models and collage, Marlow Lackner builds a world where gods are unreliable, demons are petty, and mysteries are rarely solved on purpose.

Developed through Shopfront’s Members Production program, the event offers behind-the-scenes workshops and showings — sharing the creative process and challenges of building this richly strange world.
