Baiame's Ngunnhu - the story of Brewarrina Fish Traps 😍😍😍

Originally produced in 2005, this video was made to commemorate the National Heritage Listing (NHL) of the Brewarrina Fish Traps (Baiames Ngunnhu) in Brewarrina, NSW. It was the second Indigenous site added to the list.

The story is told by Aunty June Barker: a significant local elder. 😍

Baigup Biidii - Path to Place of Rushes 😍😍😍

This short film, Baigup Biidii - Path to Place of Rushes, gathers site-specific stories that have never before been recorded, and show the significance of the Swan River and Baigup Wetlands to the Whadjuk Noongar people.

The film captures Whadjuk Elders’ Marie Taylor and Dr Noel Nannup sharing some of their traditional knowledge about the river, the birds and animals of the area, and the ongoing importance of Baigup Wetlands. 😍

Uncle David Unaipon: Australia's Da Vinci 😍😍😍

You may know his face from Australia's $50 note, but Uncle David Unaipon's influence – as a Ngarrindjeri man, author, revolutionary inventor, preacher and activist – extends far further afield than your wallet.

The invention of the first straight-line motion shearing machine in 1909 is one part of Uncle David Unaipon's incredible story, documented here in 'Australia's Da Vinci'. 😍

Every name in the Dulhi Gunyah Orphanage database holds a story, and every story matters. πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

Historic admissions records from Dulhi Gunyah Orphanage in East Victoria Park have been carefully preserved in a new searchable database, documenting the experiences of around 65 Aboriginal children between 1909 and 1919.

Compiled by our Aboriginal History team with information from the State Records Office of Western Australia, the index supports Aboriginal families to search for relatives who may have been placed at the orphanage.

This work is a significant step toward truth telling. It honours the children of Dulhi Gunyah and supports families and communities in reclaiming their stories and connections.
