Universal Peace Federation (UPF) is a global network of peace builders. Peace is an essential quality that should characterize all relationships.

Mission

The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) is a global network of individuals and organizations dedicated to building a world of peace in which everyone can live in freedom, harmony, cooperation and prosperity. Peace is not simply the absence of war or a term that applies only to the relationships among nations. UPF advocates renewal of the United Nations, including a proposal that the UN creat

e an interreligious council within its structures. UPF implements its programs through a global network of Ambassadors for Peace. UPF encourages all religions to dialogue and cooperate for peace based upon the recognition that human dignity derives from a universal divine source that is the basis of harmony and unification. UPF offers relief and humanitarian programs, service-learning projects, character education and sports programs with a special focus on personal leadership and peacemaking skills.

On June 5th, the world marks World Environment Day 2026, hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan! 🇦🇿

From rising seas and heatwaves to the hopeful sight of new solar panels and replanted forests, our planet is sending us a direct message: It’s time to answer fear with care and damage with restoration. ☀️🌳

Here is how UPF chapters around the globe are putting environmental peace into action:

🇵🇪 Peru: Brought together academic, legal, and civic voices with the Lima Bar Association to fight for a planet free of plastic contamination. 🚫🥤

🇷🇺 Russia: The "EcoGeneration" project in Voronezh turned environmental care into a celebration! Volunteers used interactive games to teach recycling, hosted park events, and organized local river cleanups. 🪵🐟

🇬🇧 United Kingdom: Partnered with CleanCyclers for powerful programs on land restoration, sustainable living, and beating plastic pollution, proving that our daily choices directly impact our common home. ♻️🇬🇧

🇧🇫 Burkina Faso: Linked nature with social responsibility by bringing traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and youth together for tree planting and environmental workshops. 🌳👥

🕊️ The Ecological Meaning of "One Family Under God"
Nature teaches us without words—a river gives life, and a tree offers shade without asking for recognition. 🪵💧

UPF founders Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Dr. Sun Myung Moon always emphasized that the Earth is not a possession to be exhausted; it is a shared home entrusted to our care. When we learn to care for what cannot defend itself, we learn the true language of peace.

🏡❤️ Where Peace Learns Its First Language: Celebrating Global Day of Parents! ❤️🏡

June 1st marks the UN Global Day of Parents, and it also beautifully concludes UPF’s massive "100-Day Campaign: Serving Community"! 🌍✨

Over the last 100 days (from February 20 to June 1, 2026), this incredible campaign has traveled through classrooms, community halls, and homes across the globe. It proved one powerful truth: The road to global peace always returns to where it first becomes visible—the home. 🏠🌱

Here is a look back at how this global movement unfolded through three powerful monthly themes:

🤝 March: Partnerships Around the Table
🇺🇸 Washington, D.C.: UPF-USA hosted a beautiful interfaith Iftar dinner, bringing Christians, Muslims, and other faiths together in mutual respect.

💻 Global: The International Association of First Ladies for Peace (IAFLP) hosted the "No Peace Without Women" webinar, featuring leaders from 22 countries.

🇨🇲🇰🇪 Cameroon & Kenya: Gathered hundreds of traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and women leaders to bridge the gap between public leadership and family responsibility.

🛠️ April: Month of Service on a Human Scale
🇪🇸 Madrid: Organizers hosted a charity market raising educational support for children in Cameroon.

🇱🇰 Sri Lanka: Religious Youth Service volunteers rolled up their sleeves to repaint a remote school, giving children fresh stationery, warm jackets, and big smiles! 🎒🎨

🇦🇺🇵🇪 Australia & Peru: Brought peace down to earth, connecting civic responsibility with environmental care for International Mother Earth Day.

Connecting deeply with the UN International Day of Families, communities looked at how the home shapes the future:

🇫🇷 Paris: Partnered to discuss "Living Together in the Family and in Society."

🇷🇺 Russia: Celebrated with intergenerational chess tournaments, art, and music! ♟️🎵

🇳🇵🌍 Nepal & Latin America: Hosted powerful forums treating the family as the "First School of Love and Peace."

Parents rarely call their daily grind "peacebuilding." They call it cooking meals, staying awake with a sick child, teaching patience, or holding back a harsh word. 🕰️❤️

"Before a child understands institutions, nations, or public life, the child learns whether people can be trusted. That first lesson shapes everything that follows."

As UPF founders Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Dr. Sun Myung Moon always taught, humanity is one family under God, and the family is the ultimate school of love.

On May 25th, the world united to honor the founding of the Organization of African Unity and celebrate Africa’s incredible journey toward unity, freedom, and dignity.

Africa truly is a continent of spirit, family, youthful energy, and endless promise! 👣❤️

In a beautiful commemorative letter, Dr. Tageldin Hamad (UPF President) highlighted the vital themes guiding Africa this year:

Why Water and Sanitation Matter for Peace:
Water is sacred. It’s what a child needs to grow, a mother needs to care for her family, and a farmer needs to feed a community. Safe sanitation protects human dignity and daily security. Where scarcity can breed mistrust, responsible sharing opens powerful pathways to cooperation and peace! 🤝🌱

Have you noticed how the calendar seems to slow down and listen at the end of May?

Right now, we are witnessing a beautiful, rare moment in time. One after another, different religious traditions are entering their sacred seasons, creating a global conversation moving from home to home across the world. 🌍❤️

Look at this incredible lineup of faith and family happening right now:

📜 Jewish Shavuot (May 21-23) – Celebrating the giving and transmission of the Torah.

🕊️ Christian Pentecost (May 24 & 31) – Commemorating the Holy Spirit awakening us to serve the wider world.

🌙 Muslim Eid al-Adha (Expected May 27) – Honoring sacrifice through hospitality and giving to those in need.

🕯️ Bahá’í Ascension of Bahá’u’lláh (May 29) – Remembering a life dedicated to unity and peace.

🪷 Buddhist Waisak/Wesak (May 31) – Honoring the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and passing.

While these traditions have their own distinct voices, they all speak a shared moral language: Covenant. Spirit. Sacrifice. Compassion. Remembrance. 🙏✨

Here’s a quick look at how UPF and the International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace (IAACP) are turning this vision into reality around the globe:

🇷🇺 Moscow: Launched the “Everything Begins with Love” exhibition, blending poetry and fine art.

Across the globe, May 8 and 9 are marked by history books as Days of Memory, Reconciliation, and Family Responsibility.

But for many, they are also days of "unfinished memory"—of sacrifices made and families separated.

At the Universal Peace Federation, we believe that Remembrance must lead to Reconciliation. 🤝

If conflict enters history through nations, it enters daily life through our homes. That’s why we connect these days of memory to the Month of Family.

Our families are where we first learn to either hold onto old grudges or to see the humanity in our "enemies."

How are we turning memory into action?

Through our 100 Days of Serving Community campaign, we aren’t just looking back; we’re looking forward. From the Peace Road initiative to youth sports programs like Play Football, Make Peace, we are proving that service and culture can bridge the divides that politics cannot.

Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon consistently taught that lasting peace cannot be separated from strong families and a culture of living for the sake of others.

Our slogan “One Family under God” complements the United Nations vision of “a human family.” This ethical perspective encourages cooperation that honors both spiritual convictions and universal human rights.

As we move toward June 1, the Global Day of Parents, let’s remember that the foundation for peace is built long before diplomacy, legislation, or institutional reform. It is built where children first learn love, discipline, truthfulness, and respect – in the family. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒❤️

Across the globe and over the years, UPF has promoted family-centered peacebuilding through a multitude of programs.

To give just a few examples:
🇺🇸 At the United Nations in New York, UPF serves as an executive member of the NGO Committee on the Family. On January 22, 2026, UPF co-organized a virtual program titled, "Empowering the Family through National Policies: Insights from Burundi and Italy."

🇬🇧 In London on May 31, 2025, UPF-UK held a colorful family event featuring reflections on intercultural marriage, an interfaith peace blessing, music, poetry, and Exemplary Family Awards.

🇦🇹 In Vienna on May 17, 2025, UPF-Austria convened a conference on family-oriented policies for sustainable development, linking family dignity, character education, cultural diversity and the public good.

🇹🇭 In Bangkok on May 27, 2025, more than 500 participants joined a webinar with family specialists, medical professionals, and government-related representatives.

🇳🇿 In Aukland, New Zealand on May 24, 2025, UPF highlighted youth empowerment and family-oriented policies, linking family stability with the perspectives of young people.

🇧🇫 In Burkina Faso, UPF organized a public conference on Family and Social Cohesion in the capital city of Ouagadougou on February 14, 2026, integrating peace strategies with traditional family culture.

🇦🇷 In Argentina, UPF-Argentina and the Pacis Nuntii Movement co-sponsored a program on the theme, “We Are Siblings, We Are Family” on October 9, 2025, in Paraná City, stressing the link between family ties and community.

UPF has also offered practical assistance to vulnerable families:

🇬🇳 In Conakry, Guinea, UPF supported families with premature infants by distributing sanitary and nutritional kits to hospitals and clinics in January, 2026.

🇱🇰 In Mullaitivu, Sri Lanka on December 28, 2024, UPF and partner networks distributed food aid to flood-affected families.

🇪🇸 In Madrid, UPF-Spain organized a charity event from February 28 to March 1, 2026, to raise funds for impoverished families in Cameroon, to support their children’s education.

Going forward, UPF encourages its local chapters, partners, and Ambassadors for Peace to celebrate May with meaningful Month of Family events. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

These may include a parenting workshop, an intergenerational service day, a school partnership on values-based education, a family health awareness event, a youth mentoring initiative, or a public forum on family resilience under pressures such as inequality, child wellbeing, addiction, migration, or loneliness. A program can be educational, celebratory, preventive, or compassionate, always keeping the dignity of family life at the center. ❤️
