UPF Oceania

UPF Oceania Universal Peace Federation (UPF) is a global network of peace builders. Peace is an essential quality that should characterize all relationships.

Mission

The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) is a global network of individuals and organizations dedicated to building a world of peace in which everyone can live in freedom, harmony, cooperation and prosperity. Peace is not simply the absence of war or a term that applies only to the relationships among nations. UPF advocates renewal of the United Nations, including a proposal that the UN creat

e an interreligious council within its structures. UPF implements its programs through a global network of Ambassadors for Peace. UPF encourages all religions to dialogue and cooperate for peace based upon the recognition that human dignity derives from a universal divine source that is the basis of harmony and unification. UPF offers relief and humanitarian programs, service-learning projects, character education and sports programs with a special focus on personal leadership and peacemaking skills.

As we approach the final days of June 2026, an extraordinary moment is happening around the world. The calendars of several major religious and spiritual traditions are converging around shared themes of fasting, remembrance, prayer, and responsibility.

Look at how the worldโ€™s faiths are connecting this week:

๐ŸŒ™ Islam (Ashura - approx. June 25): Marked by Sunni fasting and gratitude, and solemn Shi'a commemoration of Imam Husayn. Both traditions invite believers to confront suffering and injustice, turning memory into a source of empathy rather than resentment.

โ˜€๏ธ Hinduism (Nirjala Ekadashi - June 25): A rigorous fast abstaining from food and water. It highlights the power of self-mastery and inner balance in an age often defined by distraction and excess. ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธโœจ

๐Ÿ“œ Judaism (Shabbat - June 26โ€“27): The Torah readings (Chukat-Balak / Balak) explore the immense ethical power of speech. Words can inflame conflict, or they can encourage reconciliation and affirm human dignity. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธโค๏ธ

โ›ช Christianity (Feast of Sts. Peter & Paul - June 29): Celebrating two pillars of faith who were vastly different in background but united in purpose. A beautiful reminder that unity does not require uniformity. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿช” Tibetan Buddhism (Universal Prayer Day - June 29): Marked by prayer flags and purification offerings. This day honors spiritual interconnectedness, showing that the world's moral atmosphere is shaped by mindfulness and compassion. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

๐ŸŒฑ Zoroastrianism (Maidyoshahem Gahambar - June 29โ€“July 3): A mid-summer festival giving thanks for creation. It reminds us that caring for our Earth is a shared moral and spiritual responsibility. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ

Peace cannot be secured by legislation, civic engagement, or religious devotion alone. It requires all of them working together.

Let's turn reverence into dialogue, and dialogue into shared action.

Before a peace treaty is ever signed, and long before the cameras arrive, how do we stop conflict from taking over? ๐Ÿ“ธโŒ

As UN Peacebuilding Week 2026 kicks off in New York (June 22โ€“26), Dr. Hamad, UPF President, highlights a crucial but hidden side of peace: the quiet preservation of communication channels when public language has already hardened. ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Trust isn't just a soft sentiment; itโ€™s practical evidence that we can disagree without destroying each other.

Here are the key takeaways from this timely reflection:

Beyond Formal Politics: Founded by Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Dr. Sun Myung Moon, UPF works in the spaces where governments cannot. By keeping leaders from politics, religion, academia, media, and business connected, UPF ensures dialogue continues when formal diplomacy narrows. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‘ฅ

One Family Horizon: If we only view people through the lens of conflict, peace is just a temporary management arrangement. But if we view each other as one human family, reconciliation becomes something truly worth preparing for. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

A Parallel Lesson from Jakarta: While New York focuses on peacebuilding structures, the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026 meets in Jakarta (June 22โ€“25). Both events point to the same truth: sustainable peace depends on whether youth find purpose, families stay stable, and institutions remain trustworthy. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ

The Bering Strait Connection: Renewed discussions about a possible Bering Strait link remind us of the imagination peacebuilding needs. In the vision of UPF's founders, this geographical passage represents a place where continents nearly touchโ€”challenging nations to imagine projects that outlive the anger of the moment. ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒ‰

The next stage of global peacebuilding requires durable channels, ethical leadership, and practical cooperation across every sector. Trust is the living infrastructure that makes it all possible. ๐Ÿ—๏ธ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

๐Ÿก Beyond Institutions: Why Peace Begins in Families and the Human Heart โค๏ธ

With global conflicts rising and trust in public institutions feeling fragile, where do we actually find the blueprint for lasting peace? ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿ”

As the United Nations prepares for the upcoming SDG 16 Conference 2026 and the High-Level Political Forum, Dr. Tageldin Hamad, President of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), reminds us of a truth that often gets overlooked: Sustainable development isn't just about technical systemsโ€”it has a deeply human and moral dimension. ๐ŸŒŸ

True, enduring peace doesn't start in a government building; it begins in our characters, our relationships, and our homes.

How can we better support families and youth in our own neighborhoods to build a more peaceful world? Share your thoughts below! ๐Ÿ‘‡

In honor of the UN International Day for Countering Hate Speech (June 18), UPF invites us to look at the words we choose through a moral lens.

Hate speech doesn't just hurt feelingsโ€”it narrows our imagination until we can no longer see a brother or sister in the person standing across from us.

๐ŸŒ When Civilizations Listen: A Refresher for World Peace ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

What happens when we stop treating other cultures as political categories, and start seeing them as human beings?

Ahead of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations (June 10), Dr. Tageldin Hamad, President of UPF, shares a powerful reminder: Civilizations aren't walls to divide usโ€”they are the beautiful, diverse memories of our shared human story. โค๏ธ

Here are the key takeaways from this inspiring reflection:

One Human Family: Beneath our different languages, sacred memories, and histories lies a common longing for dignity, belonging, and love. UPFโ€™s vision reminds us that we are one family under God. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธโœจ

Beyond Politics: A culture isn't just defined by conflicts or headlines. It lives through its songs, prayers, families, elders, and dreams of renewal. Real dialogue happens when we meet at this human level. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐ŸŽต

A Legacy of Connection: Long before this UN observance, UPF founders Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Dr. Sun Myung Moon were building bridges. From island and peninsular nations to continental initiatives, they proved that peace grows through relationships of trust. ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒŠ

Daily Discipline: Dialogue isn't just for politicians. It starts in daily life when we listen without preparing an accusation, speak without humiliating others, and reject contempt. ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Shared Challenges, Shared Answers: Whether it's the East or West, North or Southโ€”the protection of the family, the care of creation, and the future of our children belong to all of us. No single culture holds the answer alone. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿง’

The future doesnโ€™t ask us to blend into sameness. It asks us to meet with an open heart. When civilizations truly listen, humanity begins to remember who we are. ๐ŸŒŸ

On June 5th, the world marks World Environment Day 2026, hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan! ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

From rising seas and heatwaves to the hopeful sight of new solar panels and replanted forests, our planet is sending us a direct message: Itโ€™s time to answer fear with care and damage with restoration. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒณ

Here is how UPF chapters around the globe are putting environmental peace into action:

๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ช Peru: Brought together academic, legal, and civic voices with the Lima Bar Association to fight for a planet free of plastic contamination. ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿฅค

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Russia: The "EcoGeneration" project in Voronezh turned environmental care into a celebration! Volunteers used interactive games to teach recycling, hosted park events, and organized local river cleanups. ๐Ÿชต๐ŸŸ

๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง United Kingdom: Partnered with CleanCyclers for powerful programs on land restoration, sustainable living, and beating plastic pollution, proving that our daily choices directly impact our common home. โ™ป๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ซ Burkina Faso: Linked nature with social responsibility by bringing traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and youth together for tree planting and environmental workshops. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ‘ฅ

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ The Ecological Meaning of "One Family Under God"
Nature teaches us without wordsโ€”a river gives life, and a tree offers shade without asking for recognition. ๐Ÿชต๐Ÿ’ง

UPF founders Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Dr. Sun Myung Moon always emphasized that the Earth is not a possession to be exhausted; it is a shared home entrusted to our care. When we learn to care for what cannot defend itself, we learn the true language of peace.

๐™๐™๐™š ๐˜ฝ๐™ž๐™œ ๐™๐™–๐™ ๐™š๐™–๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ฎ:
Climate action isn't just for scientists and governmentsโ€”it lives in our daily habits.

Itโ€™s in the water we save, the food we respect, the waste we reduce, and the trees we plant with our families. ๐Ÿก๐ŸŒฑ

UPF invites all Ambassadors for Peace, youth leaders, and families to make environmental care a core part of the culture of peace.

Letโ€™s cherish and protect our beautiful shared home!

๐Ÿกโค๏ธ Where Peace Learns Its First Language: Celebrating Global Day of Parents! โค๏ธ๐Ÿก

June 1st marks the UN Global Day of Parents, and it also beautifully concludes UPFโ€™s massive "100-Day Campaign: Serving Community"! ๐ŸŒโœจ

Over the last 100 days (from February 20 to June 1, 2026), this incredible campaign has traveled through classrooms, community halls, and homes across the globe. It proved one powerful truth: The road to global peace always returns to where it first becomes visibleโ€”the home. ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒฑ

Here is a look back at how this global movement unfolded through three powerful monthly themes:

๐Ÿค March: Partnerships Around the Table
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Washington, D.C.: UPF-USA hosted a beautiful interfaith Iftar dinner, bringing Christians, Muslims, and other faiths together in mutual respect.

๐Ÿ’ป Global: The International Association of First Ladies for Peace (IAFLP) hosted the "No Peace Without Women" webinar, featuring leaders from 22 countries.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช Cameroon & Kenya: Gathered hundreds of traditional chiefs, religious leaders, and women leaders to bridge the gap between public leadership and family responsibility.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ April: Month of Service on a Human Scale
๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ Madrid: Organizers hosted a charity market raising educational support for children in Cameroon.

๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ Sri Lanka: Religious Youth Service volunteers rolled up their sleeves to repaint a remote school, giving children fresh stationery, warm jackets, and big smiles! ๐ŸŽ’๐ŸŽจ

๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ช Australia & Peru: Brought peace down to earth, connecting civic responsibility with environmental care for International Mother Earth Day.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ May: Month of the Family
Connecting deeply with the UN International Day of Families, communities looked at how the home shapes the future:

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท Paris: Partnered to discuss "Living Together in the Family and in Society."

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Russia: Celebrated with intergenerational chess tournaments, art, and music! โ™Ÿ๏ธ๐ŸŽต

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต๐ŸŒ Nepal & Latin America: Hosted powerful forums treating the family as the "First School of Love and Peace."

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ The Ultimate Parent: The Unsung Peacebuilders
Parents rarely call their daily grind "peacebuilding." They call it cooking meals, staying awake with a sick child, teaching patience, or holding back a harsh word. ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธโค๏ธ

"Before a child understands institutions, nations, or public life, the child learns whether people can be trusted. That first lesson shapes everything that follows."

As UPF founders Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Dr. Sun Myung Moon always taught, humanity is one family under God, and the family is the ultimate school of love.

The Campaign Ends, but the Mission Continues! ๐Ÿš€
No parent can do it alone. UPF invites neighbors, teachers, and leaders everywhere to offer parents practical support and friendship. Letโ€™s keep the spirit of service alive by visiting someone lonely, listening before judging, and serving someone outside our own household. ๐Ÿซ‚๐ŸŒŸ

On May 25th, the world united to honor the founding of the Organization of African Unity and celebrate Africaโ€™s incredible journey toward unity, freedom, and dignity.

Africa truly is a continent of spirit, family, youthful energy, and endless promise! ๐Ÿ‘ฃโค๏ธ

In a beautiful commemorative letter, Dr. Tageldin Hamad (UPF President) highlighted the vital themes guiding Africa this year:

๐Ÿ’ง The African Union 2026 Theme: "Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063."

๐Ÿ’ง The UN Africa Dialogue Series Theme: "Water and Sanitation for Life: Harnessing Water Resources for the Africa We Want."

Why Water and Sanitation Matter for Peace:
Water is sacred. Itโ€™s what a child needs to grow, a mother needs to care for her family, and a farmer needs to feed a community. Safe sanitation protects human dignity and daily security. Where scarcity can breed mistrust, responsible sharing opens powerful pathways to cooperation and peace! ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒฑ

UPFโ€™s Vision & Legacy in Africa:
Rooted in the vision of founders Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Dr. Sun Myung Moon that we are "One Family under God," UPF continues to celebrate Africaโ€™s deep wisdomโ€”its traditions of family responsibility, respect for elders, and community care.

UPF has proudly championed Africa-led peace and development through major milestones, including:

๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ณ The Africa Summit in Dakar: Focusing on interdependence and mutual prosperity.

๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ The Cape Town Summit: Partnering with the Royal House of Mandela to honor Nelson Mandelaโ€™s legacy.

๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ช The Niamey Continental Summit: Gathering leaders in full cooperation with Niger and the African Union.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น Africa Spiritual Day (Addis Ababa): Reminding the world that moral leadership, conscience, and forgiveness are the true foundations of public life.

The Ultimate Goal:
Peace begins in the heart and becomes visible through service. UPF calls on governments, religious communities, civil society, and educators everywhere to recognize Africa's unique voice and gifts. Together, letโ€™s build an Africa of dignity, spiritual strength, shared prosperity, and lasting peace! ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐ŸŒŸ

Have you noticed how the calendar seems to slow down and listen at the end of May?

Right now, we are witnessing a beautiful, rare moment in time. One after another, different religious traditions are entering their sacred seasons, creating a global conversation moving from home to home across the world. ๐ŸŒโค๏ธ

Look at this incredible lineup of faith and family happening right now:

๐Ÿ“œ Jewish Shavuot (May 21-23) โ€“ Celebrating the giving and transmission of the Torah.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Christian Pentecost (May 24 & 31) โ€“ Commemorating the Holy Spirit awakening us to serve the wider world.

๐ŸŒ™ Muslim Eid al-Adha (Expected May 27) โ€“ Honoring sacrifice through hospitality and giving to those in need.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Bahรกโ€™รญ Ascension of Bahรกโ€™uโ€™llรกh (May 29) โ€“ Remembering a life dedicated to unity and peace.

๐Ÿชท Buddhist Waisak/Wesak (May 31) โ€“ Honoring the Buddhaโ€™s birth, enlightenment, and passing.

While these traditions have their own distinct voices, they all speak a shared moral language: Covenant. Spirit. Sacrifice. Compassion. Remembrance. ๐Ÿ™โœจ

As we close UPFโ€™s "Month of Family" and head toward the UN Global Day of Parents on June 1st, we are reminded that the family is where these sacred values become ordinary life. Long before virtues are debated in public, they are quietly learned around dinner tables, in prayers, and through simple acts of care. ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ‘ต

UPF Founders Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Dr. Sun Myung Moon envisioned a world of "One Family under God." This doesn't mean erasing our differencesโ€”it means hearing each otherโ€™s voices without fear, refusing to let differences become estrangement. ๐Ÿค

Peace begins wherever we learn to receive life with gratitude and answer it with care.

Letโ€™s celebrate the beautiful tapestry of faith that connects us all! ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’–
