We have a few updates from the Inveresk Food Hub to share 🥫

Firstly, if you’ve visited the Food Hub, you’ve likely met Maddie, our wonderful Food Hub Officer. Today is Maddie’s last day as she heads off to complete her placement to become an Occupational Therapist. We’ve loved her for her warm smiles, great energy, and friendly chats, and we wish her all the very best for this next chapter. 🫶

We’re also excited to share that Evie, a long-time Food Hub volunteer, is stepping into the role of Food Hub Officer. Congratulations, Evie. We’re so excited to have you join the Food Hub and TUSA team. ⭐️

Finally, a quick update to our opening hours. The Inveresk Food Hub will now be open on Wednesdays only, with extended hours from 9am to 3pm. We hope this gives you more flexibility to drop in and do your “shopping” 🛒

☕ Join us for the official launch of Grounded, a new social enterprise café created by students, for students, and open to the wider community.

Every purchase helps support .org.au Food Hubs, with all profits reinvested into initiatives that address student food insecurity.

When: Wednesday, 17 June // 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Where: Grounded Café, UTAS Hobart City Student Hub, 157 Elizabeth Street, Hobart

About Grounded:
Grounded is a social enterprise operated by the Tasmanian University Student Association (TUSA). The café was established to provide affordable food and beverages for students while creating a meaningful way for the wider community to support student wellbeing.

Why It Matters? 💙
More than half of UTAS students experience food insecurity, with many regularly skipping meals due to financial pressures. Grounded helps address this challenge through a sustainable, community-focused model that gives back directly to students in need.

Come along, enjoy great coffee and food, connect with the community, and be part of something that makes a real difference.

☕ When you purchase from Grounded, you’re helping fill someone else’s cup too.

Join us next week for a letter-writing event in support of Amnesty’s Indigenous Youth Justice Campaign. Together, we’ll call on the Federal Attorney-General to create a National Youth Justice Framework and help address the over-incarceration of children and young people in Australia, particularly the disproportionate impact on First Nations communities.

Come along to learn more about the campaign, write a personalised letter (or sign a template), and connect with others who care about human rights and justice. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re new to Amnesty and activism or a long-time supporter.
